Hi there , just ran into the site and i have a question

i had my interview on march 22nd and they kept my passport and told me i will get it in 2 weeks , but i didnt get it until now , i wasnt given any AP paper , I emailed the embassy they said AP , i called DOS many times they said AP , then last week one operator of DOS said they are finnishing my case and ready to issue visa , then another operator said still AP ,

What do you think?

is it the embassy typical answer to say AP , which might stand for paper processing at the embassy or what , and why ?

There is really no answer as to when you will receive your visa. My husband had his visa interview and the CO told him

he would receive it with 3 wks.....4 months later he received it!

The only sure thing is when you get it then you know Cairo has sent it!

Good luck and just hang in there.

why did the DOS first lady said they finnished my case and ready to issue visa?

and why the 2nd one said they didnt?

i'm just hopefull the first one told me more info

All you can do is wait. They told my husband he was approved... they kept his passport and then they began AP... they sent an investigator to his home, his mother's home and his ex-wife's home... they interviewed EVERYONE, (neighbors, the guards (haris), his Mom, his sister-in-law, etc.) trying to get information about his relationship with his ex-wife.

There are 100's of reasons they do Administrative Processing... (AP). We had no "red flags"... (same age, both Muslim, introduced in Egypt through my family and his friends, both of us speaking english/arabic, same socio-economic background, etc.)

It doesn't matter what anyone says on the phone... all that matters is that they are in charge, and there is nothing you can do unless by chance you discover, as we did, what they were trying to do... (prove he was still living with his ex-wife, or that he only pretended to divorce her so he could marry me, etc. etc. etc.) Once we knew this he was able to contact the investigator and set him straight. Once that was done we got the visa in about a week to 10 days.

Administrative Review and/or Administrative Processing

After Your Visa Interview

Administrative Review: Is when your case is being looked at more closely for accuracy and to make sure all security name and fingerprint checks have cleared and your visa can be adjudicated.

Administrative Processing: Means once you have interviewed it is in security checks for any of these situations: you have had a name hit in one of the many data bases, background checks for fraud, or has missing and incomplete information that must be submitted and the rechecked. Processing is more in depth and than the review process and there is no time limit for this processing to complete. Administrative processing can last a few days or months and in some cases it has endured for years.

Administrative Processing Frequently Asked Questions:-

• When does Administrative Processing Happen? AP can happen at any time during your processing. It can happen at a service center, at the NVC level, or at the embassy level. It mainly is discussed here in the forums at the embassy level.

• Who can get Administrative Processing and Why? AP usually affects men and women from certain countries but anyone can get AP. Persons coming from T countries (Terrorist Countries) seem to have more security checks and have to endure AP at the embassy level after their interview. Common names, your nationality, religion, education, relationship of applicant, travels and job can all be factors for AP. Having incomplete or missing documents will also cause a case to be put in AP. In some cases if the embassy does not believe in the validity of the relationship they can investigate it further with a field investigation.

• What are the T-Countries? Although it is classified, the list of countries reportedly affected by these restrictions includes, but is not limited to, Afghanistan,

Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Egypt,

Eritrea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya,

Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia,

Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates,

and Yemen.

• DOS information: DOS can be contacted Monday through Friday during business hours. You must have all information concerning your case with you so that they can assist you.

Department of State’s visa Information phone number: 202-663-1225

• Can I expedite this process? The simple answer is NO. No one can expedite the checks since they are considered a matter of National security. An elected official can only make a congressional inquiry on your behalf. They cannot get the checks finished any fast

Well to put you under Administrative process it doesn't mean you have red flags .

if your wife is younger than you and if you guys live together it doesn't mean they shouldn't put you under you under Administrative process.

And if you have red flags it doesn't mean you they have to put you under Administrative process.

There are so many people who had red flags and they got their visa without any problem without any Administrative process.

Anyway they put everyone under Administrative process lately at USA embassy in Cairo and i don't know why .

Just be patient and i hope you will hear good news soon .

Good luck and my best wishes for you .

Mohamed

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

If you know the system then none of this should surprise you at all! In this sytem some sort of AP is done for EVERYONE filing for ANY kind of visa. So don't feel you are being singled out or treated unfairly. It's true that AP takes more or less time for some people than others, but in the end most of us NEVER KNOW why AP took a short time or a long time in any case, with 100% accuracy. As Mohammed wrote, there are many different types of processes and other issues reviewed during AP.

I don't think anyone has gotten their Visa issued IMMEDIATELY after their interview (at least no one I know...) Not K3, not K1, not CR1....

The fact that your wife attended the interview may be helpful, and if they come to visit your house and see you living together that may also be helpful... but it doesn't answer many other issues/questions that they may have... It isn't any sort of PROOF that you meet their requirements for the Visa. It only proves she is able to afford to come and stay with you in Egypt... (something that many people do, regardless of their marriage plans, or intentions)

All I can say is that if you find this rather short period of AP (it's not even a month since your interview!!!) so frustrating and upsetting, you are likely to be experiencing even more stress and anxiety in the future....

Getting the K3 Visa is just the beginning of the Immigration Process...... Once you arrive here you will be going through a MUCH MORE processing (Adjustment of Status) and you may find yourself sitting here for many months without a work permit... and if you think that is frustrating wait until you get the work permit and then try to find a job! Unemployment here is getting to be about the same as in Egypt....

My husband arrived here October 6th, 2008, they refused to give him a Temporary EAD stamp at JFK, he didn't his EAD card until February and he finally got a REAL job last week!

He finally passed the written test for his driver's license (on the 3rd try) and next week insha'allah he will pass the driving portion of the test. It has been a VERY LONG and COLD WINTER for him... Alhamdulillah he has a lot of patience and at 48 years old is mature enough to accept that everything is in the hands of Allah and we can only do our best to make good choices and accept the consequences good, or not so good.

Try to be patient and focus on being thankful that your wife is with you! Most of us were not able to stay with our husbands in Egypt while they waited! My husband and I couldn't marry in Egypt because it was during the time when the US Embassy wouldn't give me the papers I needed to provide the Egyptian Government in order to GET MARRIED! I travelled to Egypt 3 times in 12 months and still had to wait even longer for him to finally arrive.

The stress on the relationship when you are far apart for long periods of time can be very damaging, so be happy that you are together, be patient with this minor delay, and prepare yourself for many more issues that you will face when you get here... insha'allah. Make d'ua for those who are seperated from their loved ones, and for those who have been re-united but are facing many difficulties, regardless of the fact they are together.

My husband has made friends with many of the other Egyptian husbands who have recently arrived in the USA and I don't know a SINGLE ONE OF THEM that has had an easy time since arriving in the USA, for many different reasons.

Best wishes for a speedy AP....

Filing for a visa through the K3 process, or any OTHER process doesn't mean you are entitled to anything....

This is their chance to verify that you are living together...
