Question for those Married in the Philippines

I married my wife back at the end of February this year. She went and endorsed our marriage contract a couple of weeks after, and she did what they called "Electronic Endorsement" to dumagetti and/or manila, not totaly sure on this. I am not sure what this means, but is this the same thing as "Advanced Endorsement?" The reason im asking, is I want her to get working on her passport and getting the documents I need for the NVC.

She called yesterday and they said they still didn't have it on record, so my question is, what should I do now? Can i submit an original non NSO Marriage Certificate to NVC, and can she use that also for getting her passport, since I need a copy of her passport for the NVC also.

Anyone that can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh, and also, about CDLI, if she nor I have ever been married before, do we need this on any of our documents? Thanks!

Hi, we got married in the Philippines too and 2 to 3 weeks after wedding day, we got our NSO authenticated marriage contract. What we did was, we ask the lady from the city hall( we had civil wedding ) to forward our papers and endorse it to NSO because that time too we were planning on filing a petition in USEM. It was fast. Had to pay, 1000 pesos for 2 copies of marriage contract from NSO. You should have a copy of your marriage contract from city hall too.

Hope you learned something from what I shared.

Also, about getting passport, they asked about the NSO copy of birth certificate/marriage contract.

Thanks to both of you for your replies.

I believe she endorsed it to NSO about 4 weeks ago. The people she talked to in Dumageti said to check back the first week of may..... that sure seems like awhile.

Oh well, I don't think I will need the papers that early unless I fly through CSC, which could happen with the way they are processing right now. At the very least I could get a certified copy of our Mariage Certificate from where we had our civil wedding, I sent a copy of our original contract/certificate with my original petition submission for the I-130. She had everythign she needed for her passport before she got married, but now taht she is married she will probably need at least the Marriage Cert. and im not sure what else, I'll have to research that some too.

Oh and as far as CDLI, im not clear on what that is. Is that something she needs for her Marriage Cert and Birth Cert?

Thanks much.

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

The civil registry(from city hall) submit copies of marriage contract to NSO every 2 weeks (that is every 15th and 30th day of the month), so let's say the person who perform the ceremony submits your marriage contract to the civil registry on the 10th day of the month, then NSO already has the copy on the 16th, you should get some sort of a document or letter of endorsement from civil registry indicating that they have submitted to NSO your marriage, price for the NSO copy of marriage contract is only P 140.00 each, and you can claim the copies after 1-2 weeks, let's say you already got a copy from NSO,but still you need another copy for some other things(passport, joint account, etc),NSO can issue you a copy on the same day you requested it,hope it helps

Just called NSO, they said it takes them 1-2 months to process the Authenticated copy (yellow copy).

I got married last Feb, filed my I-130 last March.. still no NOA2. So you're going to be safe for a while.

To ans your question, you can go to the cityhall and get a SECURITY PAPER COPY of your marriage cert. This is also from NSO but it is in BLUE paper. You can use this for DFA update of status in your passport. I checked with DFA already. She must bring her old passport with her when she goes to DFA. Other requirements includes the CFO seminar certificate and I think passport size pics, maybe a valid ID. If you have an old passport, you don't need birth cert.

Good luck!!

hi there. we got married January 30,2009. i got the NSO copy of our marriage contract after a week, well we had to pay the lady at the municipal hall. after i got the copy from NSO,i went to DFA in Clark pampanga to process our passport(my son and me). then after that i went to NSO, got 5 more copies of the marriage contract, my birth certificate as well as my sons birth certificate. Why 5 copies? just in case i need to give them originals. plus today im sending my husband 2 copies of each(marriage, birth cert of baby&my birth cert) cause NSO usually have long lines, so incase you need it, you always have a copy. :) good luck :)

Are there specific translation requirements for the marriage certificate used when filing the petition? I'm aware of USCIS requirements for translations but am referring to any specific standard later required by USEM. Just how does one go about obtaining the necessary certificate and translation for the initial petition filing? Is a different "original" from NSO required at the NVC stage?
