I didn't fall asleep in History class. Back in those times, the US wanted to become the international police. Roosevelt (US) had his speak softly but carry a big stick idealogy. He had open up free trade with China, and controlled China. Which western civilization can trade with China, etc..

Go back to sleep. Trade was open to Americans as result of the UK's Opium War. "1844: The United States gains the same trading rights as the United Kingdom under Treaty of Wanghia."

"The Chinese economy was not open in the 19th century despite trade treaties and Western encroachment. Its trade was conducted in self-contained trade zones with little impact on the rest of China."

No need for that, very childish.

It probably was but when you compound the problem by making another inaccurate statement despite protestations of being awake in history class, you can expect some mild ridicule. Better yet if you haven't been to China you should do so. Too many Americans know little about China and we aren't getting any smarter despite a massive increase in trade and competition for worldwide resources.

Most people will not remember everything in life. They understand the gist of things. An example is you had to look up the information. I doubt you learned that in History Class since the source isn't from a High School History textbook.

I know more about China because my grandfather is Chinese. China whether the US Americans civilians knows about them or not, China have not been at war with the US. Moa Tze Dong was a threat, but his reign is over. US are selfish just like what happened in Cambodia. Bombing an independent nation killing off my cousins during the Vietnam War. You think the US is great!?

You keep glossing over the Korean Conflict. That conflict is still unresolved, and under truce. Technically, the USA and PRC are still belligerents.
