dual citizenship (UK/US) for baby ?

I am not quite sure how this works, but I want our daughter (due in approx 7 wks) to be a dual citizen. I know that she will be a USC by birth, but how do I go about making her a UK citizen as well?

Anyone else gone through this?

I will not miss this opportunity and I'm sure your daughter will appreciate in the future.

Being a dual US/EU citizen doubles your opportunities.

I'm sure that having one British parent would qualify her, but each country has different laws, so double check.

Our daughter is a dual citizen. We sent her American birth certificate to the British embassy in NYC, along with the fee (I think it was $200), proof that her father is British (his British birth certificate and photocopy of his passport) as well as our marriage license, and they generated a British birth certificate. We then applied for her British passport. She is considered a US citizen when we are in the US, and a British citizen in the UK. We think she is a lucky little girl. Good luck to you! It's a very simple process to register your baby's birth with the British embassy.

We have to do this too for our son. DS1 was born in England so he is a British Citizen by Birth. I ordered 2 Birth Certificates so we can get the ball rolling on the British side and US Passport side so if we don't get the British passport on time we can still travel to see granny in July.

Just bumping this to add on the British Embassy Website they state there is no need to register the birth and we can go ahead and apply for a Passport without registering. The Passport is proof baby is a British Citizen or something to that effect. All the same I will call Washington tomorrow to verify.
