Letter that NVC Received Petition Yet No NOA2

Okay, so this seems very odd to me.

Edit: I guess I should have done a search first before typing this all up, but looks like the same thing has happened to others at VJ. I still find it interesting though.

Today in the mail I received a letter from the National Visa Center telling me they received an approved I-129F petition filed on behalf of my "fiance." First off, she clearly isn't my fiancé but is my fiancée. So hopefully the records aren't messed up.

Secondly, I haven't yet received a NOA2 from the USCIS. I logged-in to the USCIS to check the status of my petition and it still says "Case received and pending." This seems strange. According to the flow chart, first you get the NOA2 and then weeks later the NVC receives the petition.

Also, the letter says "INS Receipt Number" and then has my number. I find this odd since the USCIS hasn't been called the "INS" since when, 2001 or something?

Finally, it's only been about 2 months since I mailed off my I-129F petition, so this is really quick.

I'm not trying to complain. I just don't want to celebrate and then find out there was some kind of mistake.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I need to get my packet and other documentation together and get it to my fiancee. I thought this would take much longer and that I'd just bring it all to her when I visit in July (though maybe now I won't be needing to go there).

Thanks for any comments.

you should call USCIS and speak to a supervisor about this, INS Receipt Number is still the correct term.... also CSC has been pretty quick lately with approvals, so i wouldn't be surprised if you got approved so soon.

Fiance' is generally regarded as a generic "to be engaged" term. Yes, we typically use Fiance as a future groom and Fiancee as the future bride. In the Govt. eyes, we are unisex, everyone is a "Fiance" so I would not worry.

2 months is certainly quick, but not so quick to raise a red flag. From what other VJ'ers have said is the website status is horribly unreliable and really is not an accurate method for checking your status. Also it will depend on which center you applied to. The california center is so much faster now than the vermont center. This may help explain the faster approval if you filed with california.

You are going to need your NOA2 which so far has not appeared. A call to the service center you sent the 129f to would be my next move.

Just my thoughts on the matter and best wishes....................

The guide says to send a copy of the NOA2 to your fiancee, but is this actually necessary? $340 seems absurd considering it wasn't our fault, especially if it isn't even needed. I'm hoping to get it in the mail in the next few days. The online status still hasn't been updated.

im going through the same issue.........

i called california uscis, and they said my noa2 was sent out on march 26th

and that a replacement paper noa2 would cost me 340$$$$

It seems like all those who haven't received the NOA2 yet, the California Service center sent them out around the same time...because mine was also sent out March 26th supossedly....340 dollars is ridiculous especially considering all the people who would have to pay it...I'm not going to stress about it until we have to file removal of conditions because that is when you really need it

Done for 3 years or 10 years. Haven't decided yet.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

Calling the service center is a waste of your time. I'm in the same boat. I have the e-mail saying the notice was sent out, but I never received it. I called and was told to wait 30 days then call back. After 31 days I called back and was told to pay the 340 bucks, I talked to a supervisor and was told the same thing. Basically it's our problem, because "they did their job"

I'm going to wait until AOS to get it.

call the service center, senator, congressman, I think you will need NOA2 for the interview process in Guangzhou, and AOS when your fiancee is in America.
