Having observed some Egyptian/American couples with the age gap (her much older than him) I notice the wives are rather controlling and treat the men rather "maternally"....And the men are unusually compliant, considering they are Egyptian... However this doesn't really surprise me because these women are shouldering most, if not all of the responsibilities.. And our culture gives rights to those who take responsibility... (The Golden Rule: He who has the gold rules!) So it would seem sort of normal in this culture. But it's not normal at all in the men's culture... Egyptian men obey Mothers, not wives.... (98%)

I've never seen a grown man in Egypt asking his wife's permission to go somewhere, or "borrow the car", what to wear, where to work, how to act etc.... So maybe when men are treated, in their perception, as youngsters, they act like youngsters to fit the role they are in. My husband just keeps shaking his head and watching in disbelief...

If the guys tried to MACHO UP and be typical Egyptian Kings of their households... I wonder if it would fly very well with their wives. So either the men prefer (or are temporarily willing) to be dominated, as long as it meets their needs. I just wonder how long these young men will COMPLY before they REVOLT......... And when they revolt, will their mature wives be willing to become compliant and give up control? Will the men even ask them to do a role reversal, or will they just BOLT when they REVOLT.. Guess I'll just have to wait to see......

IMHO Egyptian men have abnormally large and fragile egos... that do not become smaller or more resiliant with age...
