Worst Weekend Possible...

Thursday night: Arrive at hubby's bandmate's flat to drop off gear for Friday's gig, pick up letter from record company. Open letter, discover someone has named hubby as father of her baby and said baby is being taken away by social services. Hubby floored, rest of us laughing our asses off (I know as well as anyone else it's not possible). Car dies.

Friday: Car fixed. Resolve "paternity suit" (woman named six or seven people, real father already confirmed by DNA and has custody), up to London to attend thoroughly depressing gig in small, dark, hot club. Drink heavily. Text messages from friend reveal that her foal is dying, my camera is unable to take good pictures in the dark and I'm surrounded by pros with lovely digital SLR's. Car died.

Saturday: Car fixed. Attempt to purchase digital SLR, fail as checks from US have not yet cleared. Friend's foal looking better. Car died.

Today: Car fixed. Get text message from friend that foal has passed away.

No more weekend. I'm done. :crying:

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Gwennie... just hang in there... and come and visit me on the Bazaar... loads of stuff happenning there... could do with a prog lover to get involved (F) Lots of love and huggles (L)

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

Conditional Green Card dated 24th October 2007

I spent the rest of the day working on my website and making a tribute to Cheryle's foal and then helping her clear out the tack room. This was the contents of the tribute (some of it in a Tolkien Elven language because his owners chose his name from a word meaning "free"):

Mára mesta, neth Minyon.

On May 18, 2005 a foal was born into the world. On the 25th of June 2006, a grey and chill summer day, he passed from it.

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing the foal called Mirimor Minyon until his last months. Had he lived, he would have been a horse to be reckoned with. Bred for dressage, he showed everyone early on just how much of an eventer he could be. He was so full of life and spirit.

On his birthday, he wasn't himself. He went downhill slowly at first, and then rapidly. At no time did his owners have a thought for themselves-all of their energies and time were devoted to his health. He received the best care from the first moment; unfortunately, it wasn't enough. This morning, his body was giving up the fight.

The injustice of it makes me angry through the tears. Why him? Why a young horse with all the world ahead of him, a baby adored? Why not some starving, abused horse? Why not some horse whose owners wouldn't put up the kind of fight I saw Cheryle and Asher put up? It's so unfair.

He leaves behind a world grieving, but a world that was better for knowing his sweet, fuzzy self.

na Mirimor Minion, calo anor na ven..

I saw a star rise high in the

Evening sky,

It hung like a jewel,

Softly shining.

I saw a star fade in the

Evening sky,

The dark was too deep and so light died,

Softly pining.

For what might have been,

For what never was.

For a life, long lived

For a love half given.

damn..sorry sister gwen

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

"The Evening Star" is indeed a beautiful poem and suitable for so many situations.

I hope your week is better than your weekend.

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!
