K-3 Interview in Jordan too easy?

My husband went to his K-3 interview on April 1 in Amman, Jordan, and was approved! He received his passport with visa today (April 16) via ARAMEX delivery.

While we are both thrilled about the approval, of course, I was surprised at how smoothly it went, and how simple the consular officer's questions were.

Basically, here is what the CO in Amman asked my husband:

1. Did your wife come with you to the interview?

2. How did you and your wife meet?

3. When did you and your wife meet?

4. What does your wife do for a living?

5. What would your wife do if she lost her job?

6. What did you do when you were in [Country X]? (My husband has worked and lived outside Jordan in the past.)

7. Do you have photos of the wedding? (The CO glanced at a few of the wedding photos through the dividing glass.)

END OF INTERVIEW....."Congratulations, etc."

Here is what the CO did NOT ask about: children, ex-husbands, finances, future plans, sex, shared interests, our most recent argument, the color of my underclothing, blood types, the I-134, where we plan to live, our families, religious differences, age differences, how we stay in touch, etc. The CO didn't look at any supporting evidence except a few wedding photos.

Our weakest point going into the interview was the I-134, and we expected the CO to pounce on it and grill my husband about my job and my financial situation. But the CO never mentioned the Affadavit of Support.

OTHER NOTES:

Dress Code: My husband wore "business professional" (i.e. a suit and tie) to the interview. (I suggested he dress like he was headed to a job interview.) The CO was wearing a very casual version of "business casual."

Atmosphere at consulate: There were lots of security checks and questions from people OTHER than the CO. My husband actually got interrogated in passing by other consulate personnel (locals, not Americans). They asked him about HIS job, his travels to other countries, etc. Maybe this is just something they do for entertainment. My husband arrived early, was first in line for non-immigrant visa, and waited about two hours for his interview. The interview was relaxed, apart from the fact there was a pane of bullet-proof glass between my husband and the CO!

What you might want to take: Who knows? My husband dragged with him all the required paperwork and also a load of "supporting evidence" including phone records, samples of chats, e-mails, photos, letters, receipts, etc. None of it was needed. But if we were doing it over again, we would still take it all, of course.

Maybe it's ME, but after all the stress over the visa application, the additional forms, the I-134, and the LONG wait, I expected the consulate to be more hard core about the interview. I'm an ex-journalist and the list of possible interview questions I created in advance for my husband was impressive. (And apparently unnecessary!) (If anyone is interested in my list, I'm going to try to post it as an attachment or separate post...we'll see...)ULTIMATE_STUDY_GUIDE_K_1_K_3_VISA_INTERVIEW.doc

My heart has adopted every shape.

It has become a pasture for gazelles,

And a convent for Christian monks,

And a temple for idols,

And a pilgrim's Ka'ba,

The tables of a Torah,

And the pages of a Qu'ran.

I follow the religion of love.

Wherever love's camels turn,

There love is my religion and my faith.
