Hi,

I have a question about submitting the I-130 and I-485 forms. After my US fiance becomes my wife in a few weeks, do I submit both forms together? I read the instructions on the I-130, and it seemed straightforward. I read the I-485 form, and everything seemed clear, till I got to intructions for evidence of eligibility, on page 5 of the instructions for I-485 form. It asks for a copy of the approval notice for an immigrant petition. Do I need to get an approval notice prior to submitting the I-485 form? If I do, how do I get it? All these forms are making my head spin. I'm going for a rest!! Any help much appreciated:-)

My fiance is a USC. Thanks for the replies, it really helps. I have another follow up question. My L1B visa expires on July 1st. I've tried to find out exactly where I stand, with regard to being legal in the US, once that date arrives. My understanding is I file the I130 and I485 paperwork. Assuming the paperwork is in order and complete, I receive notice from the USCIS that they have received the paperwork. When I get this notice from the USCIS, am I now legal to stay in the US, even past July 1st?. I keep seeing the phrase AOS but don't understand exactly what it means. Does AOS mean they have got the I130/I485 forms and are going to process them? Or does it mean they've received the I130/I485 forms, examined them and found them to be eligible for processing.
