My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Yeah, the NYPD had no business kicking the guy out of the stadium...total discrimination.

And if the guy on the flight did not go to the bathroom, those wonderful ladies and gentlemen of the flight crew would have surely enjoyed cleaning up after him if he just went in his seat!

 Two groups of chops who need to join the ranks of jobless:
  • NYPD cops who responded--last-i-checked, there is no rule that says that a fan cannot be in the loo during anthem-singing
  • Delta flight attendants--who didn't understand whether it would be more disrespectful to other passengers if coach-passenger used first-class/business-class loo, or used floor or seat as one instead

There is no indication as to the behaviour of the alleged victims though. The guy trying to go to the loo during the yankee game was initially blocked and told he could not move during the anthem..which is apparently policy at Yankee Stadium. What we do not know is did he then become abusive or threatening in anyway? If so then he will lose his lawsuit. It wouldn't surprise me if he did.

Same goes for the guy who needed to use the lav on the plane. A calm, but insistant, request and an explanation of the situation would no doubt have resulted in them letting him use the Business class lav or the flight attendant getting the cart out of the way. Sometimes the 'victims' behaviour is their own downfall.

Maybe so, Foz. Again, we don't know that so I guess it's hard to say.

However, if the man's behaviour was nothing more than a little "Are you serious?" and grimacing at the NYPD, I think it's completely unreasonable. There is no law that states you can't go to the washroom while the anthem is playing.

I've gone to the washroom before during the Canadian and US national anthems. I had to take a piss so...what was I gonna do?

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

It wasn't the National Anthem the article was talking about. It was the playing of the hymn, God Bless America. But still this is a free country. It shouldn't have mattered if it was the National Anthem or a hymn. He should have been allowed to go to the restroom.

They shoot you at the England matches if you move during God Save The Queen. Not the police but the "patriotic' thugs.
