You can certainly use the media in that way - whether that's happening at the moment with Obama is the question. I don't think it is - you have a few grumbling talk show nuts - and Glenn Becks new show.

I think the media goes any which way the wind blows. While most outlets are under all kinds of pressures - commercial and political, it doesn't necessarily mean that there is some deliberate coordinated attempt to tear down Obama.

I think its interesting that there was very little criticism of the Bush administration during the first term, and no shortage of it in the second (certainly during the last 2 years).

The obvious exception to that are the talk show nuts, but then - they haven't really changed and are pretty much doing what they always do.

Fox News is a unique case with regard to major news media - it is run and operated by Roger Ailles, a Republican strategist and political hack for one, and second, media watch dogs have called them out several times for gross inaccuracies in reporting. Roger uses the network as political propaganda machine and while his Rupert Murdoch would be pushing radical Islam if it were profitable, has left all the decision making to Roger. It's well documented. About the only thing that even comes comparably close is MSNBC, but even then they are miles apart.

Direct bias - would involve politicians telling people what to write, or controlling what information is released to the press (as ####### Cheney's office did with Global Warming).

It's their preposterous attempts at the slogan "Fair And Balanced" that is hilarious. I think the right and left wing commentators are full of themselves. The right wing ones are just more comical though. Some of the stuff they try to say with a straight face is just priceless. I'm still waiting for the "Michelle Bachmann Comedy Tour".
