FBI name check

Hi guys,

just a curiosity: has anybody ever had problems with the FBI name check before getting his/her green card? Also, what is the difference between the FBI name check and the checks they perform when you enter the USA and in the new ESTA database?

Just curious, I've heard that they do a triple check on people and wanted to know the various proceedings (because I live at the border in Italy with France and my cousing work in the border police he was interested in this topic, so I offered myself to get more info about it! ).

my husband waited 3 years before he got his greencard due to name check. at the time he was approved is when they had a back log of names and wanted them cleared out so they issued the greencards without name check complete. we to this day still dont know if he cleared the normal way or was just cleared from the back log.

No, the Adam Walsh Act is for checking the background of the petitioner, not the immigrant.

Oh well, in any case shouldn't be an issue anymore, as recently FBI released a note where they said that they can complete name checks in 90 days and that they resolved all the backlog. It was especially hard for people from China or Middle East, whose names often tend to be similar to each other. Very daunting!
