What happens when you go for your medical exam & vaccinations

We received a letter today from USCIS that my husband needs to go for his medical exam and vaccinations before they will process his EAD.

Just curious what happens when we go for this?

We called and our local civil surgeon and they told us what we needed to bring, I am just curious if it takes along time, what they test you for, what happens next?

Also, what is the fastest way to get the info to USCIS? Mail, Local office

Sorry just don't know what to expect and everyone here is so helpful I figured I would turn to you for help and answers.

Thanks

Actually the RFE is for the greencard application and not the EAD, but since the I-485 is suspended then the I-765 is hung up as well....

RFE needs to go back to the office that has the file and who generated the RFE... trying to submit the information to the local office would be just about the worst thing you could try

They do a complete medical/drug screening - and any shots needed.

We called and our local civil surgeon and they told us what we needed to bring, I am just curious if it takes along time, what they test you for, what happens next?

I take it he is on the USCIS list of acceptable surgeons?

Also, what is the fastest way to get the info to USCIS? Mail, Local office

Payxibka answered that. I would use USPS express

Sorry just don't know what to expect and everyone here is so helpful I figured I would turn to you for help and answers.

Well if you have your husband's past vaccination records (you could have brought them from his home country, and they just transfer it to the appropriate form) <~~thats what i did with my husband, but if you didnt, then its probably going to cost you an arm and a leg to get all his vaccines and have the medical exam. If your husband came over on a k-1 fiance visa, you DO NOT need a medical, just the vaccines transcribed/get the vaccines, and THAT IS ALL have her put that on the appropriate form. My husband brought his vaccine records with him from mexico, and i contacted the civil surgion, and to have the vaccines put onto the appropriate form, i payed 100 bucks, and that was NOT WITH THE MEDICAL, because he didnt need it, he already had it to get the K1. They will test for tuberculosis, measles, mumps, rubeola, and varciella (chicken pox). Alfredo and i didnt take that long in the office, probably 25 minutes total, but he also didnt get the full physical. Good luck, hope this helps.

My husband came here on a visitor visa, no intentions of staying so we don't have any of that type of information, and paying the $280 is not a problem (due to my very supportive wonderful family), and getting documents from Australia has been quite a chore.

So I should just EXPRESS post the documents when I get them back to the office that sent them!

We are going to go for tomorrow appt (well its a walk in thing) but going tomorrow all the same. Is it just like a basic physical? Normal stuff?

I am a nervous nellie when it comes to this stuff so just like to know what to expect!

Thanks for the replies, they make me feel MUCH better!

Hi

It happened to me too, i sent all my paperwork but I didnt realize that I had to get my medical test done and sent that also, so they sent me a letter asking for that, well i went to a civil surgeon here in Orlando, i got an appoiment in the same week I went there 2 days the first one they took my blood and I had a tuberculosis test in my arm, then I had to come back 2 days later for the medical examination, in that day they gave me all the results that I need to send to USCIS, it was in an envelope which was close and I couldnt open, but they gave me a copy of everything so I had the chance to know what were they sending as well all the results. I paid for all $260 because I needed to get one vaccine.

Then the same day I went to the post officce and sent it to the adress that USCIS said in the letter that I should send that.,

It was all I sent it the last week now waiting for the appoiment to go for the interview.

I hope my experience can help you!

Ali

It is a normal examination, and blood test for VIH, and other illness, tuberculosis test it is all.

If he is healthy not worries.

feel free to ask any questions,

Does the standard AOS exam include a drug test?
