Hi all,

What style of photo of myself and my fiance is required for the I129-F? Do passport photos work?

The directions on the current version of the form (OMB 1615-0001, expires 6/30/06) say:

"Give USCIS a passport-style color photograph of yourself and a passport-style photograph of your fiance(e), with both photos taken within 30 days of the date of filing this petition. The photos must have a white background, be glossy, un-retouched, and not mounted. The dimension of the full frontal facial image of you and your fiance in separate photos should be about one inch from your chin to the top of your hair in 3/4 frontal view. Using a pencil or felt pen, lightly print the name (and Alien Registration Number, if known) on the back of each photograph."

My fiance and I had passport photos taken, and they are taken from the front (full-frontal)? But re-reading the directions, it looks likey want a 3/4 view, with me looking slightly away from the camera.

What are the actual requirements? Will sending in the wrong photo style lead to a request for more evidence? We're applying through Vermont if that makes a difference.

Thank you!

Passports pictures are what they're looking for. I speak from experience...........I got the 3/4 frontal view because that's what it said in the directions. I even took the directions to the photographer, and she thought it strange but did as it said (luckily she told me if they weren't the right ones, just to bring them back and she would redo them free of charge). I decided to check to see if there were any changes before I sent them off to my fiance and sure enough...........It had changed and passport pictures are the ones you need to send. So off I go to the photographer and get them redone. Our I-129F has been approved and as we speak I'm waiting for my Interview date..................{{{HUGS}}}

I think that this page answered my question - full frontal, passport-style photo. Did I misinterpret the form?

You got the right one. the USCIS wants full frontal passport style photos. believe that's only style they've accepted after sept 1 2004.

TIP: always check the USCIS page for up to date instructions. Forms take longer for them to correct, but the webpage will always be updated.

The photo spec information is linked on each of the form pages at uscis.gov
