You mentioned that you plan to use the vehicle to import all of your goods, while also importing the vehicle, yes?

I was under the impression you couldn't do this... If I'm mistaken, I'd be happy to know as I was looking into doing this myself.

I don't know if there is anything about the age of the vehicle that made our case special (and I think it may have), but when we imported my husband's 1971 MGB GT from England we just turned everything over to a shipping agent, paid about $1000, picked it up at the docks in New Jersey and drove it home to Connecticut. Nobody ever mentioned anything about it being on any list of importable or non-importable vehicles. Is there something different about Canadian vehicular import?

Well, this beats me ?? How can you drive that car which has steering wheel on the right side on the right side of the road.

I am having the same problem and overcoming it.

You have a classic car elmcity, so the same rules don't apply.

I'm not importing it as yet. so we'll see what happens. It is now under my name and i have a 3 month insurance on it. so until i'm close to the end of my insurance, I wont import it as yet. However, I will be using it to move my personal belongings.

All i know about this is if I import the vehicle w/ my stuff, i have to be cautious and make sure there will be no problems or else I have to turn back around(?) However, where Im going, its only 5 hours away from BC and I'll be crossing all the time. So hopefully they dont give me a hard time with the van. It has EPA sticker on it. I will inquire @ the border this Friday when I move tho.

Pretty much all of us who drove down here importing a vehicle filled their car with some or all of their belongings. It's not a problem.

Oh yeah you can do this! My car was stuffed so full I could barely see through the rearview mirror! The front seat too was jammed, all the floors, etc. You are allowed to bring your personal effects with you when you're moving!

question.

theres a 2nd vehicle following me. they will have some of my stuff as well. lol. does it matter which vehicle I'll be in? should I be in the Van where its packed with 90% of my stuff or can I be in the other car with 20% of my stuff? Will the other driver need a copy of my visa or anything else?

my family is visiting my other family at the same time. so its a bonus for me. i get to bring a lot more of my stuff.lol

Do you mean ship your vehicle with a company?
