Does anyone know about obtaining police clearance from ahmedabad passport office? They are asking my wife to change her middle name from her father and reissue another passport under her new married name with my name as her middle name. They will not issue PCC although her maiden passport is still valid until 2017. Please advice to what should I do so not to delay my case. PCC is the only docume left to submit to NVC.

Also, after the process is complete at NVC, my file will be forwarded to Bombay,India Consulate. WHat should I look forward to? I do not want to cause any further delay. Please advice as what should I look for or prepare or apply for as the time gets near so I can be ready when consulate asks for it.

Please help me. ALso, I am a student and I have filed I-864 affadavit of support for her along with a co-sponsor. Do I need to be present with her during her interview in INdia? I am in US right now. Or will they ask for me?

Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately the Ahmedabad PPO is one of the more difficult offices in India to get your PCC. You will have to work within their guidelines to get the PCC from them.

As far as your file being sent to Bombay they will send you the paperwork within 2-3 weeks. If you don't get the packet in that time frame give them a call or email them with your BMB number and they will resend it. You can always download the information off their website. Everyone my fiancée and I had to talk to there were very nice and helpful so if you have questions you can always contact them.

I had used a co-sponsor also so it is fine. As far as being there for the interview thats up to you. If you can't make it there it's fine. I would suggest reading the reviews of the embassy so that you and your wife are familiar with what they will be asking and how the process is on the interview day. It would also be good for your wife to go see a consultant there in India to go over the interview process. My fiancée did this and it was super helpful and made him more relaxed.

Just make sure you have tons of proof of relationship and that all your paperwork is organized when your wife goes to the interview.

Good luck =)

=)
