I am sure that thought has crossed many a mind. Personally I feel sure there are petitions that require more in depth questioning than others due to the individuals circumstances.

As for whether they have already made their mind up whether they are going to approve or deny a petition I would have to say No. For as much as I dislike the process, mainly because of the length of it, I feel CO's have an open mind when interviewing prospective cases. I do not think CO's are there to deny petitions but there solely to establish the validity of the petition. So long as your petition is valid then there should be no problem at all. I know it is hard sometimes to have faith in the system when you hear so many horror stories regarding denials and AP etc etc but you have to believe in your own individual case.

I am sure there are very few who go to the interview without some form of trepidation, for we would be strange if we didn't.

Best wishes

Just wandering but b/4 you go to an interview does the Consulate Officer already have an idea on whether they're going to approve or deny your visa?

I think they might have some ideas, based on the paperwork/evidence that you submitted. Of course if something is out of order prior to the interview then they must know of what path their going to take during the interview. We were really meticulous with all the documents and evidence, and when Marco went to the interview they only asked him 2 questions and didn't look at any of the evidence or documents we presented. Infact when he went there, there was a couple going for their interview as well. They didn't fill out the Affidavit of Support and their visa was denied. I mean come on, the interviewer had to know before hand based on the documents submitted that they weren't going to walk out with their visas. I'm sure there are other factors to it as well. Country of processing, the mood of the interviewer, and such.

All I can say is just try to have everything is required, and then when you have all of that, check it four times, then double your evidence, then check it again!

In Ecuador, the COs' minds ARE made up already: If the U.S. petitioner is not present for the FIRST interview, the visa application is refused or put on 221(g).

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I strongly believe it. Because consulates review your petition(s) before hand. We have asked from the embassy that do we need to provide them any proof of our relationship, they only say it's no need and we shouldn't worry about it  Apparently they have already reviewed my K3 petition but now I'm going to take the CR1 interview instead.

OF COURSE! I think asking those questions is just to PICK YOUR brain and pretend like they are doing their job. But i do feel that we should have all of our documents required ready as well. Thats the key. As for whether the consulate officer will approve or deny your case, he/she probably have already determined before your arrival for your k1/k3 visa.

Can't say for sure, but I think yes. They review the documents you turn in before the interview. I think if there are "red flags" it becaomes an uphill battle and you have maybe 5 minutes to change their mind. Of course, we can only speculate.
