I think until we know the airline is charging more, then it's all just speculation.

Personally, I agree if a person takes up more than one seat, they should pay for two. Hell, when I was pregnant I would have gladly paid for 2 seats to be more comfortable!

I almost always fly Northwest...if you get a window seat, the armrest next to the window comes up. I'm not a window seat fan, but it really helps on a long flight if someone is taking up tons of space. Though is drives me a bit mad, if the person next to me is friendly and not offensive in the odor dept I ask them if they'd like to raise the armrest between us. I don't mind someone taking up a bit of my space. I just think how uncomfortable I am and I can't even imagine how uncomfortable they are. I do think the "fat row" thing is a good idea. Hell if you just want more room you can be in the "fat row" too. Flights over 5-6hrs I go for business class. There's only so much I can take of someone with their seat in my lap. The people laying their seats back super far annoys me more than the fat person taking up half my seat.

thats what happened to us coming back from hawaii. the guy infront of me had his seat back so far we couldnt even get up to go to the bathroom and my husband goes alot. of course we bothered the heck out of him pushing on the seat while trying to get out. i didnt know how he could get his seat back so far.

they also do have a section where u can pay for extra leg room but it isnt the whole cost of a ticket tho.

Yes, people who push the seat all the way back the moment they're allowed to is far worse to me than anything else. I feel totally crammed in and claustrophobic. And I don't want to push my seat back because the person behind me will be crammed in...

Did you know routine maintenance requires the plane to be dis-assemble? By dis-assemble is that they have to take the seats out, the carpet out. They need to do stress test, etc...This is done every few hundred thousand miles or so, I maybe wrong on the time.

After everything is certified, they have to reassemble everything again. Imagine the man hours needed to do that. And the amount of detailing (knowing which piece goes where) work? Don't worry, your seats gets a new fabric on it as well.
