Small planes could have that issue I'm sure, not sure about big panes. Actually I don't know hardly anything about it so I don't know why I'm commenting on it.

But I do know people who had to say their weight to go on a small plane, and of course the women all lie and they didn't weigh them!

I wonder what the practical weight limits are for commercial airliners. I expect its like an elavator that has a maximum weight threshold before it will stop working.

If a hundred or so 500lb people showed up for the same flight, I wonder what would happen...

It'll be a VDB request followed by IDB if necessary.

Turn first class into the fat section

Random thought - I wonder if there has been a flight that they had to cancel or make an unschedule stop because the passenger load was unexpectedly heavy.

Well, if you classify nosediving into an aircraft hanger and killing everyone on board an "unscheduled stop" then yes. Being the "Air Crash Investigation" geek that I am, this thread reminded me of the episode in which part of the reason a small commuter plane went down was the increased weight of passengers over the course of time.

OK, so not exactly in tune with the obesity being discussed on this thread, but interesting nonetheless.

If the bomber can carry a one ton bomb, then an Airbus 390 can carry 200x500lb people on board!

100,000 lbs?

Wow...

LOL

Just kidding. There's no such thing as the A390 yet. A380 is their latest model. I like the interior so much.

i don't understand why this has to be particularly offensive? why is it discriminatory? the fact is that someone of "average" size pays for their ONE crappy economy seat. why should they have to share it with someone who is twice, perhaps 3 times the size of one person, who cannot fit in their own seat? it's not about just being overweight, or being chubby, or too tall. if you happen to be one person who is the size of two or three people, then dammit purchase another seat. how come those who can fit in one seat have to share with those who can't and yet pay the same price? it happens all the time, it's #######.
