One can only speculate the circumstances that would lead to someone risking their life to cross over into the US from Mexico, living in the shadows and working sh!t jobs just so they can send money back to their family. I sure don't want to judge them....maybe you do and others here, but I don't. If they believe they are doing what is necessary for the family's survival, I applaud them for trying.

I judge then based upon what they do, not why they do it. If they're really interested in making a better life for themselves, they will -- at some point -- make themselves legal. Many don't bother. Essentially, they're looking for a better life at the expense of the American citizen.

Judging actions without knowing the circumstances is pretty callous to say the least. I hope you don't that to your children.

You don't know the circumstances either. You're judging the situation based upon what you believe it to be or have read about in cherry-picked articles that reinforce your viewpoint. I'm sure I've done the same, but the point remains neither of us know all the details.

I already stated the obvious - they are crossing over here, risking life and limb, sometimes on foot for hundreds of miles in barren desert, knowing that they must live in the shadows and work sh!t jobs. So, you either believe they're crazy as batsh!t....or perhaps in a pretty desperate situation economically.

You're turning them into heroes, Steve. They aren't and should not be rewarded in any way for crossing and staying illegally.

I can imagine they feel its all necessary, but that doesn't explain why they don't become legal after residing in the United States. What they think and feel is irrelevant when concerning the law. We can't get what we want simply because we want it while paying little-to-no attention to the laws that are in place.

On the other hand... if you feel their wants override law, then that applies to me (and anyone else) as well. I'll have to remember that.

The need for survival is not a want. I think it's pretty obvious the level of economic desperation these people have that motivates them to make the treacherous journey here only to clean toilets and wash dishes. They aren't coming over here and becoming doctors or lawyers. Chances are, they stay in the shadows their whole lives, with the hope that their sons and daughters will have opportunities they never had. We don't have Canadians coming over here like that. This is an economic problem that won't be solved any other way but economically.

I am fukcing disgusted by the things I read on here.

Justashooter, you should be ashamed of yourself.

coming from a guy who has a picture of a robot sticking a person with a spear in his posts?

that's a thin line.. languages at work.. only the paranoids think spanish speakers talk smack ALL the time behind their backs.. but, if there were other foreigners in my place of work, I wouldn't mind if they speak their langauge while they're carrying private conversations, for group conversations regarding work, Iguess i'd prefer a common language, which would be english.. but if I see another spanish speaker and just say hey whats up, i dont see what's the big deal of saying it in spanish

Some may come over in an effort to survive; however, others run across the border because they WANT to and feel they can do better in the United States. Maybe they can, but the point remains that it's still illegal. Even if they are looking to simply survive, they could file for refugee status. That'd get them into the country and do it legally.

Canadians don't rush over the border because they hate HFCS. :star:
