So I just had my interview this week and here is my review. My consulate is Naples, Italy.

Since Im not from Italy I travelled there a day before the interview. My first stop was in Rome and then I had to take the Train from Roma Termini to Naples. it took me 1hr 20 minutes to get there and about another 20 mins to get to the hotel. I stayed at areamare.org , its a hostel which is situated only 5 minutes away from the consulate. It is really that close. Its supposed to be bed and breakfast but dont depend much on the bfast that the hostel offers. It's a very clean hostel though and the owner is nice and helpful. You will only need a taxi to go to the Istituto Diagnostico Varelli which is about 10 minutes away by car.

I was at the medical test at about 7.15am and I was the first one waiting. since I was first they called me at about 8.30am for blood test and then was told to go downstairs where 2 doctors were waiting with the names of all the applicants. They were checking that the applicants have all the vaccinations needed. I paid €180 there. They were very nice and well mannered. Make sure that you have all the vaccinations. Then we were called to go for Chest X-Ray and then back down to check blood pressure, a chest test and also height and weight. And that was it. they told me that if i dont hear anything till 1.30-2pm everything was fine and I can go to the consulate the day after.

At the consulate my interview was at 9am and i was there at around 8.15am. There were already other applicants that I saw at the medical test going in and after security check, where they gave me a number(Security can keep your cellphones) i was told to go up 2 floors and found other applicants waiting in a big room. I was called at the first window at about 10am so that they check papers and make sure that I had everything. A few people that were waiting with me were told to go get a different set of pictures coz the size was not right. Then I was told to pay at the cashier, which is in the same room, and then wait again for the consul to call my name. They asked me who filed the petition for me and asked me few questions about my paperwork. The consul only asked me where Im from, where I met my husband and the magic word that I got Approved!! I was out at around noon!

I was told to go to a mailbox where I could collect my passport with the visa in it and also the envelope that has to remain sealed. At the consulate they give you a map to go to this mailbox office at 5pm on that same day which is close to the consulate. €6.00 to be paid at mailbox to pick up passport and envelope.

I hope that you have a smooth journey and that this review is helpful to you all.

Hi His_Wifey..

Congrats on visa approval....

I have seen a photocopy of my husband's visa and it said the same thing. I think, when you come to US, at your POE, they'll put another stamp with the date of your entry. This is the date from which they start the counting. Also, I-551 is a temp thing saying your're LPR till you get the green card. The actual green card will expire in two years from POE. I-551 stamp mainly helps people prove that they're LPR while waiting to get greencard, very useful in traveling/work/etc.

Here are the two threads that should help you understand bit more...

Hey jamall,

I don't have the answer but just a suggestion. You may want to post this question in a new thread so more people look at your post and respond.

Naah, haven't heard from GS.. I am sure she's busy showing him around and trying to settle down. Definitely starting to get excited now... Even I was crazy-busy going around looking for furniture for bedroom. I've been living like a college kid till now ;) I am also setting up mini-home office with nice monitor/printer ;)

Have you decided on POE and date yet?
