Proof of bonafide marriage

Hi, I apologize if this subject has been addressed before, but I couldn't find anything in my search that applied to my situation.

My husband and I got married in a quick civil ceremony two weeks ago after having been in a defacto spouse relationship for 2 years. We live together, and have shared finances. We had not planned on marrying for 2 more years as finances prevent us from having 2 ceremonies, but I got a great job offer in the states, and we have to go back in May/June. We looked into options and found the CR1 visa to be the most efficient. Will we have issues since it was so fast and there were no family members in attendance? We can get affidavits from parents, siblings, etc. stating their knowledge that we are in a genuine ongoing relationship to the exclusion of all others. Will that be necessary??

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

We filed in Sydney and they did not ask to see any proof of bonafide marriage. All that was needed was our marriage certificate.

Others who have done DCF in Australia have said the same, no proof necessary as Australia is a low-fraud country. I'd prepare it anyway (affidavits, photos, bank statements, etc) but don't expect them to ask for it.

I agree with PP; in most cases with DCF, all they require is the marrioage cert, but have ready a few affiavits, proof of joint lease, photos of the two of you over the years etc, just in case.

Yeah, agreed. If you have been in a defacto spouse relationship for two years, then it should be easy! They don't only want evidence from the last 2 weeks that you've been married! You can show evidence from the entire time you've been together! Any bills that are in both of your name (or separate bills in different names, but addressed at the same residence) will show that you have been living together and affidavits and photos, ect...all those are good. You might not need to show it...but it shouldn't be hard for you to get these things, just in case! :)

You have to be residing there legally for at least 6 months, doesn't matter if you are married or not during that time. You can live there for 2 years, get married then file a week later and you will still qualify.
