I just set an appointment with a local office in san bernardino. Hopefully it'll help.

Was your check cashed? If it was - you should be in the system, and should be able to get your file number from the back of the check (I say "Should" because our case number was NOT on the back of the check).

Did you send it via a tracking service at USPS, or parcel service like Fedex or UPS? If so, verify if it was delivered by the tracking code.

If you sent it regular mail and your check wasn't cashed, I'd suggest just wait a bit longer. It may have been delayed in the mail.

Right, very well said..

You have to extend some more patience ..Good luck!

I'm getting a bit impatient waiting for the USCIS to take a look at my file and send me my first NOA. Would it be best if I visit the USCIS office personally?

It took a while for mine too. Check wasnt cashed. Suddenly I got my package back with a letter saying I used an older version of the I-129F form. So I changed the forms and sent it out again.

So yours might be on its way back too. Better that than getting lost in the mail and not knowing what to expect.

You understand you are impatient after one month of waiting for a useless fancy letter? In three months blood will be spurting from your ears! In 6 months? 8 months? Chill out.

Did you send it certified mail, return reciept ?(undeniable rule of life #12) Was your chacked cashed? You HAVE your NOA1! Congratulations. What you don't have is a useless fancy letter to tell you they got your check. The NOA1 does NOT mean they "took a look at your file" it means they opened the envelope, took out the check and threw the rest in a pile or under the leg of someone's wobbly desk.

Are you planning to visit the sevice center in Laguna Nigel?

Yes... It's probably only an hour drive from my location.. if that. I'd hope to atleast be able to work with someone in person... hopefully. I'm starting to think that my check was lost within the packet and they are putting my processing on hold because of it.

If I remember correctly, I think it is a secure facility that does not accept visitors

The one in Vermont is. The service center and the "local office" are both in St Albans, but the service center is NOT open to the public.

It hasn't been cashed as of yet. I'm wondering if I should resubmit an entirely new packet.

I think your best bet is to call them.

is there a number I should contact to speak to a live person in regards to my direct file? It's been suggested that I start questioning an immigration attorney to aid me in petitioning my fiancee... would that even help?

It would help empty your wallet and bank account.

DO YOU HAVE delivery confirmation? I have not seen that you mentioned that. Without PROOF they have received your package what can anyone do? NEVER send anything to a government agency without delivery confirmation of some sort.

No, his check was NOT cashed. That question was asked, and answered. Read above.

Typically the check would be cashed within days of arrival. Something does seem to be amiss here. I would suggest to the poster that you wait a bit longer and if nothing happens, cancel the original check at your bank, and resend the application with a new check. Good luck!

I sent it with delivery confirmation. They actually received it on the 17th... I'm actually still waiting for confirmation with a case number. I am yet to receive my NOA1.
