Hey all,

This is kind a question to people which got married and took another name.

In my passport is still my maiden name but i am married now and have my husbands last name.

Do I need to change my passport? Or is that later?

Because i know in NL they put in your passport married with...

But i haven't changed my passport yet because its still okay for years.

We didn't send out the I-130 yet because we are getting the proof of ongoing marriage together.

By the way do i need to send wedding pictures with?

We got married in January and after that we don't have that much pictures together yet, but do you also send pictures from before the marriage??

I can't really understand that they take pictures because from someone else I heard they don't really look at it because you can fraud with them easily.

I like to sign with my new last name but in my passport is still my maiden signature.

How did you sign? Can I make a new signature? Or I have to sign with my maiden signature because that is in my passport?

Hope someone know an answer at my question.

Thank you so far.

Ri

I changed my last name on my passport before I filed the I-130. I wanted everything to match. Its your personal choice... I am sure you can send in the updated passport after you file the papers .

IMO to be on the safe side, I would update the passport before you file the papers, that way you can sign with your married name and there won't be any questions and everything will match.

I heard to some it is cheaper to change their passport before they leave to the US. Embassies charge exorbitant amount for change in passport.

Anway, if it doesn't cost that much, just go have it change. I'm having mine changed as soon as i get back from Singapore... maybe earlier if I have to.

Also, try to change you name on your social security and other documents. I read somewhere here that they were asked to present such updated docs to prove their identity and the bonafide marriage.

My passport is still in my Maiden name....I completed all forms to USCIS / NVC with my Married name.

I don't believe it is an issue....cos all the forms ask for your Maiden / prior names used.

let's say i'll marry my boyfriend in Las Vegas. does it mean i can already legally file the forms in my married last name?? my job requires me to travel all the time so it'll be inconvenient to change my passport. pls help.
