S and S, what med is it? I know Inderal can be prescribed as migraine prevention... what are your usual Blood Pressures? Did the Dr agree that it can even be taken during pregnancy AT ALL? Have you tried any of the Triptans, the newer and more effective drugs aimed at migraines like Imitrex?

I'm a nurse if you want to PM me, I'd be happy to talk about it with you.

And about Jill, I do understand why he wants you to observe his culture while you are living there. It's quite a different thing to be out as a lone american than being out as a lone arabian woman. Obviously if his family observes this then he would get flack from them for anything else. And if you have needs of being with others or doing something then you will get resolution by sticking up for yourself. You've definitely stuck it out far better than I would have.

However, I do have to say that at least you have the net, my husband wouldn't get it set up for the 3 months I lived in Jordan because he said he wanted me all to himself, but really it's because I know he felt insecure about if men talk to me..... anyway Lord knows most men (and women) will control as much as they are allowed. (I got net on my smartphone anyway :)

Peace out to Tuesday yes?

I have to agree with Astarte on this one. It is rather sad that he is being disrespectful of your rights as a human being.

Also, he might be promising to live the American way now but things could change when he arrives. It's more likely that the shock of how much more liberal the states are and how much more independent the women are might make him even more jealous and controlling. I could never live like that. I view it as a type of abuse.

there ya go.

Jillai, if you are going stir crazy and feel trapped then you either have to make yourself be more assertive or continue to live with it.

but I wouldnt feel too optimistic that its going to change when you both get here.

Since I know I will be up all night I'm looking around my room and thinking maybe I need to start packing more boxes. It's nearly 34 days left.

Jillai I wish you lived closer, we could "do time" together. lol

I have been here 4 weeks as of tomorrow and the only place I've been outside the apartment is to the parents in law's place a few times, and last night we went for a walk.

I do at times feel like a prisoner, but insha'Allah it's just temporary. Hubby is trying to work some things out since we might move to Kuwait soon'ish, so I know he can't spend as much time at home and for us to go out as he wants right now. With a little (more) patience on my part, it should get better soon.

I'm fairly sure he would let me go wander the neighborhood at least, but quite honestly, since I don't know the language and customs, I feel a bit uncomfortable going out by myself. I'm not as adventurous now as I was when I was younger.

But if I had another girl to go walk with or even stay indoors with, it could be different. :)

Anyways, Jillai I hope the time until you can go back to the US goes quickly. (F)

Melly! If you don't move to Kuwait before I get there I'd come visit you and we'd go for walks or whatever and practice our Arabic. LOLZ!

When I first moved to Moscow I was so nervous. I didn't know anyone. It was unfamiliar territory from my home in Boise. I was afraid to walk several blocks down the street and this is America!

Finally I forced myself to just explore and press my boundaries and now I walk all over the place. I am planning adventures like that when I get to Cairo. And oh yes you all will hear about it.

Sure, that sounds like a plan. :star: Not sure when we might go, if we go, though it seems fairly certain. You'll be here at the end of May right? I'm guessing it will be very close, timing wise. We'll see insha'Allah.

Yes I arrive May 20th.

Are you guys leaving to Kuwait for work? For good?

I don't think it would be for good. And yes, for his work. He can potentially stand to make a lot more money there than here in Egypt. It would basically be a satellite location for the Egyptian business that he and his partner run.

Not sure how long we would be there. If I like it, and we can afford it, then we could probably stay as long as we wanted. But I'm not sure I'll like it there.

We shall see!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

We didn't get rain here today. I am between Miamisburg and Middletown, Ohio. We did get bad thunderstorms last night though.

Oh my god... lol the other night I was upstairs folding clothes and there was a HUGE clap of thunder that shook the windows. Tarik ran up the stairs and sat in the bed. He screamed: "Leyla! What the **** is that?!" I laughed so hard! My baby is scared of thunderstorms :)

I'm assuming that she can't go out at all without him since she stated the SILs can't go out without their husbands either. Or maybe they can't go out without a male escort? I don't see anything wrong with a group of women going out to shop or whatever. Like I said before my SILs and I did and not one man tried to bother us. I can see him not wanting her to go out alone because of the language or harrasment but to not be able to go out period without a male escort or him is really extreme.

I'm just concerned about the wording..."unless we call him and ask if it's ok" Sounds Not Without My Daughter-ish.

Ok , let me clear things up a bit here lol...

I can go outside, yes!... alone..no!.... I can go outside with his sister in laws, or anyone that speaks arabic... that is not the problem... the problem im having is.... he doesnt seem to want to let me be free.... there is a grocery store 10 ft from my apartment building, and he doesnt like me going there alone... I said why not? he said because people might bother you outside, and I dont want u to encounter any problems here Jill...

personally, I think hes afraid maybe I will go outside and find another man to fall in love with, I mean that may not be the case at all, thats just kind of what my gut tells me... like he doesnt want to lose me to someone else..

because I see myself. no other reason why I couldnt go to that store and come right back.

as far as the calling the hubby's to tell them we r going outside, oh yes! ... none of the girls in this family just go outside freely... they all must call and tell their husbands where they r going and what time they r coming back... my husband's sister's do the same. that is how this family was raised I suppose.
