WOW Jillai....3 years!!!!!!!!!! My GOD! I know I want to live in Morocco but that long??...I think that would be very difficult.

I would think by now you would be excellent in Arabic

I know how intimidating it is not being able to understand a single thing and people looking at you so much because you are fair skinned.

At least that is how I feel in Morocco...and being blonde...(and easy)LOL.....just kidding but being blonde made me stand out all the more.

As far as having to listen to your husband. That is still something that I am getting used to.

As far as my husband coming here and "living American" I think there are still too many things I dont want him to become accustomed to

or even exposed to. I can live his way there but not having any friends or finding other women to speak english and my family so far....

wow...that would make me feel very isolated. I give you alot of credit  and you must REALLY have alot of love and respect for your man.

Keep your chin up and I hope things move quickly for you.

MORNIN

at work, ho-hum...

the comment about never leaving an arab hubby alone in the house with a mexican carpet installer....omg that's so true! My hubby about had the cops called on him the other day coz he thought that if a professional came to fix something...they would do it 150% perfect and quick! ..... coz "this is america" he says.... He called me about 10 times to let me know of each argument he had with the guys...something about leaving a pallet of grass in my parking space and it pissed him off :luv: and yesterday he calls to tell me he's "so tired of this issue" and just wants to tell them to go away... I said yes, now maybe you understand why we so frequently say "ok, whatever" even if we don't like what they're doing....COZ IT'S A ROYAL PAIN IN THE AZZ TO GET THINGS DONE CORRECTLY...

*steps off soap box, scoots it under the bed....adjusts shirt, checks hair, and goes about her day* thanks for listening :)

miss you all!

the stupid farm town has captivated me and I can't stop rearranging it! I am in there for literally hours on end trying to get it just perfect. check it out!

Mama is slowly getting better. she is no longer in a wheelchair as her leg is healing and she can get around via a walker now. alhamdulillah!!!!!

Trav is doing great with his new ears! We have to remind him every night to take them out coz he says everything "sounds fuzzy without them". I think he may be mildly autistic as I've been researching some of his abnormalities in learning and so forth so I'm planning to get him in to a pediatrician to be tested soon. The more we can correct now, the better chance he will have in the future to succeed.

Jillai, I don't know how you do it. Do you guys plan on living in the US? If so, would he be cool with staying home all while you work and not go out without you because you may be jealous? If not, then I don't think you should have to be sequestered because he's "jealous". It's really unfair, IMO.

I certainly understand that you are nervous going out when your Arabic isn't that good, but you need to push yourself one step at a time. As for the hubby being jealous, that is not a very good reason. Three years? And you NEVER go out alone? That just isn't right, and it isn't healthy for you or for your marriage. You are his wife, and I am sure that he has no valid reason to be jealous. Rather than let his jealousy control you why not show him a little at a time that you are trustworthy. I would be royally pissed if my husband didn't trust me after this long.

One other thing you need to think about. He is getting used to a subservient wife now, how sure are you that it will change once you are here? You really need to get this worked out before hand. You seem like a very nice lady, and it sounds like you sacrifice a lot for your husband. I think you deserve some freedoms, don't you?

I agree 100%, M4E. Life in the US is really different especially if you plan to work and have more freedoms. Have you talked about this? Have you prepared him for the drastic change in lifestyle? I mean as much as you can by talking. No one can really fathom the differences until they actually live here and see for themselves.
