Apologies if this is repetitive, but what have been folks' experiences with the DOS 'updates'? Do they mean anything? Related at all to the nearing of the end of AP, or not in the least? How many updates have other people been told over the phone so far?

((I ask because for the first time (in 10 mo) the DOS told me that there had been 'an update' to my fiance's AP about a month ago, but wouldn't say anything else. Is it clutching at straws to want it to mean that something is happening?))

Thanks, and happy Monday :)

Hi!

I called lat week to DOS and they also replied me that they have received last updat of my case on 12th March.

It just simple means that one of the agency has cleared our name and nothing else.

It doesnot mean or show that we are done or we r not done. And big thing is that they are working on our case.

I m in the same boat.

Wish u best of luck

Sibtain

When our AP was done, the DOS line was the first to tell us. Sometimes you have to call back later (possibly another day) and speak to an agent who is willing to tell you what the new note says. Some are nicer than others.

Sibtain is right that sometimes it is just one of many of the checks has cleared. . .other times they will be able to tell you that the embassy is waiting for something new like updated medical/police cert which means all checks have cleared. . .

The last DOS operator told me that they do not have the information if one check clears or not, she told me that information goes to the embassy. I don't know if she was not being truthful, but I asked her if she could tell me if any of the multiple agencies were finished with my husband's name check and she said that they would never receive that information to their computers. Who knows?

She's lying. Every update the consulate gets goes to DOS. . .from cleared, to requests for evidence. . .to the fact that the visa has been issued.

They don't like you to know how much information they have.
