26a-d are questions about assets, is this what you're asking about? If so, you only need to fill this section out if you DON'T meet the 2009 federal poverty level.

If you do need to count your assets, then put your asset totals on each line.

A. Savings

B. Cash value of real-estate

C. Cash value of stocks/bonds, ect

D. Add up lines a+b+c

According to the I-864 instructions, "In order to qualify based on the value of your assets, the total value of your assets must equal at least five times the difference between your total household income and the current poverty guidelines for your household size. However,if you are a U.S. citizen and you are sponsoring your spouse or minor child, the total value of your assets must only be equal to at least three times the difference." So if you are sponsoring your spouse, your $200 of savings only counts as $66.67. That probably won't help you.

i mean, for 26.a which is savings, can he put for example 200

and for 26.b, the value of the real estate etc.

and for 26.c, cash value of stocks/bonds, etc.?

my concern is the line 26.a

thanks

It is my understanding (from reading the instructions), that if you are using assets to satisfy the requirements, you will have to include corresponding evidence for the assets. So basically, if you want to enter $200 in line 26A, you'll have to also send in proof of the $200 in savings. I assume that proof would be in the form of a bank statement? Not sure... But anyway, as I said before, that $200 will only count as $66.67 (200 divided by 3). If adding $66.67 will help you reach 125% of the poverty line for your household size, then go for it. Personally I think that adding that small of an amount to your submission is a waste of time. That's just my opinion though.

for 26a just enter the amount that you have in your account(s). There is no minimum amount that needs to be entered. You enter the dollars, not the cents.

What others are saying is that if you are using assets to reach the 125% mark then you need 3 times the value of the number you are trying to attain. If you are not using the assets to qualify then you skip this section.
