Wedding Invites (just a funny story, not a Q)

So, a co-worker of mine is getting married this summer. We'll call her 'E'. E's soon to be hubby's brother's sister.. lol (so sister in law technically... we'll call her 'B' )... well, B's kids are going to be the flower girl/ring bearer for E's wedding. Today apparently B asked E if E would invite one of B's friends (who are COMPLETE strangers to E) to the wedding so that they could bring THEIR kids so that B's kids would have someone to play with.....

This comes to mind...

Classic!

I had a very small wedding. The site could literally only seat 40 people so we worked hard to cull that list down. My nephew (who hasn't tried to contact me in nearly 6 years) invited himself and his wife to my wedding. Because my sister was staying with me at the time and my nephew was going to have to fly up from New Orleans, I rearranged my guest list, actually having to BUMP 2 people. Guess what? A few weeks before the wedding they decided they couldn't afford to come after all.

I was very...ahem...angry.

Wow are you serious? That is horrible! How lame! You did say kids right? Oh my goodness if they have a sibling they already have someone to play with!

At the last wedding I went to a couple of weekends ago, they had a kids table, and one of the college students actually took care of the kids, and did crafts etc, with them that were all part of the "theme" of the wedding.. it was really sweet of her, and it seemed to help the parents.. kids & weddings.. tricky!!

BUT how lame to invite a complete stranger

My co-worker is not going to invite them... lol I just couldn't believe the nerve that someone would ASK something like that!!

That sounds like a cute idea to have someone willing to keep the kids occupied with 'themed' crafts and stuff. Kids and weddings ARE difficult to mix.

I have a couple kids invited to mine... I don't give a damn, they can run around and scream all they want, i'll just ignore them :P After all, I'm a kid myself.

But people inviting themselves? Noooo way. I don't mind being rude when I need to be. Someone asked me, "what will you do if so and so show up?" and I said, I'll tell them to get their butts back home :P
