Is there any reason to translate my childs birth certificate for the DS230? I can't find anything on the embassy web site stating that I need too but thought maybe it would be a good idea.

The child is mine and my wifes (I am USC and she is alien).

As long as the BC is in English OR the language of the country where the interview is taking place.

But for safety sake I would have it translated, dont want to get held up anywhere along the way.

This is from the State department site:

Do the applicant’s civil documents need to be translated to English?

All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified English translations.

The Translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the:

Translation is accurate, and

Translator is competent to translate.

I would recommend the translation.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

YES translate EVERYTHING! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Better to translate than hold up the process with an RFE!

It is better to translate as it is (you can do it) and notarize it. I did for one of my certificate.
