Our Montreal interview experience...

I never really shared our review. Our interview was March 24. We got there early and were greeted at the door by a guard who asked for our interview letter and passports. Then he let us in and we went through the metal detectors. When they were done, they gave us a number and told us to walk down the stairs and wait in the waiting room until the guard came down the elevator at 8:05am and would escort us upstairs. When he came, everyone in the elevator crammed inside. Seriously, I had never been on an elevator with so many at one time before. Then those seeking a non-immigrant visa went to one side and those of us with an interview letter, sat in the other side of the waiting room for our name or number to be called. When they called us, they asked if our forms were correct with no spelin errors or if they needed to update anything. We gave our passports and they gave the baby and mine back. They said they would call us back again. So they callled us back and gave us back the originals of our documents and then told us they would call us back to speak with an officer. When we went back, they said they just wanted to talk to my husband and for the baby and I to go and wait in the waiting room. It was not a very long time and my husband came back with a letter stating we need to finish up the visa by mail because we were missing the affidavit of support for the joint sponsor's spouse(I864A). Now, the joint sponsor made more than 25% above poverty level for his household plus my husband, so I was confused at first, but we followed the instructions. Then we got a letter that we needed a translated birth certificate, which the NVC told us we didn't need since he was born in Quebec and the interview was in Quebec... so he got that and sent it in... we are now just waiting to see if he is approved or not. It really is an easy process, but my husband and I seem to have become the poster child for what not to do or what to becareful of... lol... I just hope this is a stumbling block that we will surpass soon. Good luck to all of you on your interviews. I hope you are reunited with your loved ones quickly!

Shiri do they have the passport? are you just waiting for them to review the documents and send all your stuff back including the passport??

Did you know you can go on the Canada Post website and enter the tracking number with your email address and it will email you when it gets mailed with updates...

I did that when I sent my I-130 to Toronto...

A question that relates to your birth certificate.

Was the entire certificate in french, or just the back.

My certificate is also from Quebec. The front is in English, but the back has a paragraph in French describing the security features of the document.

Is this what they wanted you to translate??

Please let me know, as I only have a week until my interview and will have to find a translator/notarizer if I have to get that done.

Yes, they have the passport and I have tried typing in the return tracking number and haven't heard anything yet. I did sign up for the email thing... I just... I am really wanting my husband here by my side.

His birth certificate was in French. I think the way you can tell if it needs to be translated or not depends on what language it was registered in. His was registered in French, so the birth certificate he has was in French. If you need to find a place to have it translated, let me know and I will see if my husband still has the place he went to. He made an appointment with them and brought the translated certificate home with him and mailed it off that day. It cost him like 70$. I don't think there was English on his. I would have to look, but for the thing that says who his parents are and such... that was all in French... does that answer your question?

yep, everything is all layed out that I need - tho it's going to be akward carrying around that Xray

I can't believe it's all gonig to be over soon and I can start living my life with my husband

My Birth Cert is in English, it's just this portion on the back (a description of the security measures on the document, like the ink quality and emblem). It was registered in English as well.

I know the feeling all to well I too check the stupid Canada Post website even though I've set up the email notifications. I go on hoping to see it in the system but no luck as of yet. I hope they don't come back with any more requests...If they want to teach someone the "patience is a virtue" lesson, the immigration process def is top 3.

I got notification via email from Canadapost that our Xpresspost mailer was accepted by the post office at 10:01 today... so I am thinking he should get it tomorrow! We don't know if he is approved or not, but are hoping he is! We will know either way soon!
