Does USEM background checks the country one has travelled and lived with for more than 6 months eventhou police certification has been supplemented (without any record on file)?

or does USEM checks where a person has travelled by just using ones name? (e.g log it in to a/the system? where in one system keeps/records all travelled countries, is there such a thing anyway  )

...curious

thank you

I've got similar worries. I've been put in AP, likely for a few reasons, and one of them is that I've got a list of like 12-13 countries that I've been to in the last ten years. I don't know how they track it all though, probably through my passport...anybody else's input on this would be good. Thank you!

wow! thats a bummer! ..would it mean that they check only the last 10 years? ....hmm....

if they track it down through your passport number- thats accurate for countries that issues passport good for 10 years or more....but for us that has to be renewed every 5 yrs with new passport number couldn't be useful. Perhaps, just logging in our surnames?

anyone else to share us how do u think they background check? ....or if they do check travels and places we have previously lived? (with or without the police clearance)

Magpie- hope u get past this AP soon and thank you for your input

:D Well, my wonderful fiance' Knight found this Wikipedia article. It doesn't really specify how long each visa takes individually, and we have no idea what database we're being checked in. I hope that helps...it helped me a little, but I still can't help but pray that it doesn't come later than May.

There's no way for them to know what countries you have been to except those which involved a transfer to/from the US. They can always look in your passport though, for the stamps :)

For the 6 months or more living in another country, I'm not sure how they confirm that. I think some of it may be 'honor system' (sometimes its hard to tell these things from the stamps in a passport alone, and sometimes you don't always get a stamp - common with travels to Europe).

I have a whole list of countries...and they won't have any idea of where I've been for sure, then, because my passport's brand new (as in, I got it before I filled in my paperwork and had my interview)...ahh, there's another USCIS/DOS mystery.

this is what my SO said that ...they couldnt possibly have all access in every countries files...so its more of checking their (US) database by logging in ones name and if something pops-up ...then ur on hit....if not... then it appears ur ok.

Yes the visa stamps on passport is a clear evident of travelling to another country therefore if its 6 mos plus residency then police clearance is needed however, the question is- do usem get to know anymore travels one made by way of background checking granted a beneficiary fails to declare the country he/she visited?

But how do we explain what KnightandMagpie who are currently on AP after it apparently appeared s/he travelled to 12-13 countries? Ok so maybe this is a case of hit-name? sort of having the same name with another person hence the AP....maybe...

ohh well....

this is my point. so like having new passport, assuming u travelled before that but u didn't declare it on your forms- will they be able to trace that?is it part of the background checking? or is this background check confine within US territory and on criminal cases, terrorist or on watchlist alone? (Eg. checking only if a beneficiary has any record related to these above list specifically in US territory only) or does usem have to go digging on ones records in his/her country of origin to prove that submitted documents or contents of filled out forms are genuine?

I doubt travel to 12-13 countries is the reason. Many who travel have been to that many or more places. Between my fiance and I we are probably at like 30+.

Yeah...having spoken to a good friend who's experienced in this kinda thing, it's more likely to do with the issues of my birth certificate more than anything. She's also travelled a great deal and she didn't run across any problems. I don't have a record or anything and the security checks were probably conducted before I got my NOA2. :P She's told me not to think about it anymore in case I go mad.
