Hi Everyone,

My wife and I are going to the embassy for our interview soon and are filling out the I 864 form. We have been living in Ireland for 2 years now and all my assets are in dollars ( i am out of work and using savings) and her assets( she is Irish) are in Euros where she holds down a job. When doing the paperwork do i convert the euros to dollars? and since she is bread the winner for us do i need to fill out a seperate affidavit or we just combine them all in one form? Thanks :)

if you are doing a K1 (as indicated on your profile) then you will be using the I-134, not I-864. The I-864 is used for the adjustment of status when applying for a K visa. The USC petitioner files the I-134 form. Read through the form(s) and instructions to get a better understanding of requirements.

If you are not pursuing the K1 visa please correct your profile.

The 134 and 864 ask for amounts in dollars.

The sponsor needs to show present/continuing income or assets that can be readily turned into cash. Will the beneficiary be continuing employment in the US with the same employer? If so then that income can be used in some cases on the I-864.

Excuse the double post, the Edit feature had a hiccup.

The sponsor needs to show present/continuing income or assets that can be readily turned into cash. If you want to use assets the calculation is approximately $3 assets -> $1 requirement. Will the beneficiary be continuing employment in the US with the same employer? If so then that income can be used on the I-864 if she is your spouse.

The 134 and 864 ask for amounts in dollars.

I have an additional question. I'm American and working in Slovakia and I think I can just squeeze above the 125% for my projected 2009 income (since the exchange rate is in my favor). However, my 2008 income wasn't up to the level AND clearly I won't have this job after moving to the states, so do I need a joint sponor?

Yes, you need a co-sponsor. They are only going to consider income that will continue from the same source in the US.
