Hello,

I live in a Chicago Suburb and filed N-400 on 3/13/2009 for my wife (from Pakistan). Received a receipt on 3/19/09 that USCIS has received the application and that it has been forwarded to National Benefits Center (NBC).

When I look at the processing times for NBC, I don't see N-400 as one of the form for which the processing times are listed.

Any idea?

Is NBC really processing the N-400 applications?

What is the usual procssing time for N-400 applications?

Which center is processing the N-400 applications for Illinois?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

The NBC does some initial processing, but the actual decision is made at your local office (Chicago). So you should be looking under the Chicago field office for the N-400 processing times.

But keep in mind the site is not always accurate as it might have a few cases that are pending for a while, but the majority might actual be processed more quickly. The date listed is usually for the oldest pending case in the system. Check out the timelines/threads here for members in the Chicago office jurisdiction to get an idea of your waiting time. Good luck!
