Hah funny... I actually made an instructional video and posted it on YouTube about how to use bagged milk. My non-Canadian friends just did NOT get it... lol

As for that website with the dig at Canada... I think that's written WAY more rudely than the one from Canada to the US.... but I'm not surprised... even in our poking fun at people we do it in a more polite way.. lol. I mean really though... as an apology, rather than a list of all the reasons something SUCKS.... The differences in the approach speak volumes about the countries differences too.

Also, I agree with flames... it's the WORLD that's down... not just the USA.

(sorry, had to catch up with a few things at once there )

I don't think it is the differences in the countries, I think it demonstrates the differences in individuals. I don't think all Canadians are passive/aggressive, as the apology demonstrates and I don't think all Americans are forcibly blunt as the Eric Weiner article suggests.

Perhaps that's why I don't find either statement completely entertaining or fun. Guess I'm just different that way. Oh, well. I believe it takes all types to make the world go 'round. If everyone was alike, this would be a really dull and boring place. I'm glad that people in both countries are able to share their humor in their own way. And that helps to make the world go 'round.

Actually yeah, you're right.. I should've specified differences in 'stereotypes'... that's more what I meant... heh

Bob O Wrinkly pokes FUN of Canada on his Blog. I think he is actually Canadian, hehe. Enjoy:

Definitely not coming from a Canadian. Very mean-spirited. I don't actually get "humour" which comes from that end of the spectrum. Like Andrew Dice Clay and his ilk. Not funny. Takes all kinds, though.

Agreed - not cool IMO. The trend today in humour is so often to see how many insults you can hurl before someone doesn't find them funny anymore?

Since when did your mother tell you that throwing insults is ok? And Who decided being sarcastic and rude was funny?

A Canadian Apology

http://www.fsteiger.com/canadian.html

A truly Canadian Apology to the USA... Courtesy of Rick Mercer from This Hour Has 22 Minutes, CBC Television:

we burnt down your White House during the war of 1812. I notice you've rebuilt it! It's Very Nice.

And for the billionth time people writting these things really need to read up on history. The White House was set on fire (not completely destroyed as people claim) by the BRITISH not CANADA.

And seriously, Olympic hockey? Who even watchs that? I notice they didn't mention all the sports and gold medals the US beat Canada in at all though...

Well there it is.

Competition.

Does anyone ever truly win?

There is no such thing.

I have a trunk full of medals from competing my whole life.

Who cares?!

I sure don't...in the end it is all worthless.

Why did I do it?

My mind was young then.

Coaches cajole.

People convince.

Not wrong, just misguided.

Moving forward I would give medals to all who had the guts to try.

In LOVE, in inclusion, we all win!

In addition:

I work really hard at not having a single sarcastic thought nor expression.

I am human and therefore fallible, and yet, this work is worth it.

When I say "down" I don't just mean economically. The USA's spirit is down.

I didn't read the other post "picking" on Canada so I don't have anything constructive to say about it.

Also, just to add, Canada wasn't even a country at that point...

Anyways... this applies to everyone:: I posted this thing as a good natured JOKE... because I knew that SOME people out there would get it, and find it funny... It wasn't meant to be actually OFFENSIVE and cause people to turn defensive and 'america is better, no canada is better no, blah' etc... I certainly did NOT think it would offend anyone. So, the main apology I think comes from ME. As in, I'm sorry I even posted the stupid thing. Lesson learned. You won't be hearing any more jokes from me.

Oh don't worry, in a few months, some one else will post the same thing, and it starts all over again, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
