Someone just told me that the Bamako Mali embassy doesn't conduct interviews and medical exams. They said my SO will have to go all the way to Dakar to get it done? Could this possibly be true? What if he doesn't have a way to get all the way to Dakar? Plus if it is true, can he possibly get it done in Ouagadougou? It would be an easier option that Dakar.

I haven't even sent my docs out and I'm already freaking out.

Sadly, it's true. Mali's K-1 visas are processed through the Dakar Embassy. I don't know about him going through Burkina Faso, but I don't think you are allowed to choose your own embassy. I don't think Burkina Faso processes K-1's, either.

Thanks for the answers. I just called my SO and told him. He took it in stride and said, "ok, then I'll just go to Dakar." He's definately the calmer one. It's not the end of the world.

I'll be posting my I-129F Monday. I took today to get all the docs ready and copied. I'm ready to get this process started! Wish us luck.

Good luck! I'm sending my I-129 in on Monday too! And we'll both be going through Dakar, so here's hoping is a smooth, quick journey.

He will find a way to get to Dakar if it means getting a "ride" to the US!

Sorry Haole,

I didn't get what you meant.

The longer it takes to introduce yourself the less you've actually accomplished
