Depends on the embassy,

but....

you only get one chance to make a first impression.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Hi yhen,

When i was interviewed there in US embassy manila, i didnt see anyone wearing sandals. There are some wearing open shoes w/ heels.I wore a casual dress before(slacks, flat close shoes and a blouse with collar on it).Just wear an outfit just like when you go to a job interview...

Hi. When I had my interview last week, I wore a blouse and jeans and slippers! Yeah, I got approved, but, I must admit that I did overlook the fact that I went there for an interview. Please learn from my experience. Nobody did comment on my casual outfit but I realized myself that I dressed inappropriately. The American interviewer was wearing a coat and tie in the first place. Most applicants were dressed up, too. Well, I dressed up like that because I forgot that we will be called in separate rooms for the final interview. Back then during my interview for a tourist visa, they only called us in front of the window and get interviewed there. So, that is why I overlooked the importance of dressing up appropriately for the immigrant visa interview, but, I do believe it is important. This is not for anything else, but to show respect to the people who would interview you, and of course, for yourself as well, so you would feel good.

semi-formal clothes should work.

most importantly, be presentable.

wear comfy shoes.. actually, wear clothes that you are comfortable in.

don't wear heavy clothes, it's hot for goodness sake! summer heat might kill you.

something light, not too fancy, neutral color... nothing loud.

good luck!

Yhen31,

Just wear comfortable clothes, slacks and blouse w/collar would be nice and a light make-up and wear comfortable shoes like others have suggested.Just make yourself presentable to the CO and don't be nervous just relax and of course pray that you will passed and get the visa.Good luck!
