Hello Everyone,

The Payment online show the checkbox for IV bill invoice as Active. However they have not sent out an email with the generated immigration visa Invoice. Does that mean I can go ahead and pay the fees?

However more important is the questions on how long does it take NVC to show this fees as PAID?

I am waiting on some documents from abroad and will take some time to reach me. Wondering if I should prolong paying the fees until I get all the documents for DS230 filing. Because if the fees is shown as PAID next day, I have no documents yet to send the DS230.

Let me know what you guys think?

We did not wait for the paper invoce. I had to wait a couple of days until PAYDAY! but we went ahead and paid the invoice online within a couple of days of the IV fee bill being active. Once it shows paid (ours took two working days) you can print out your document cover sheet and there will be a link to the IV instructions. Read the instructions very carefully and if you have any questions, ou can always call the NVC and talk to an operator or post a question here. Waiting a while to pay, especially if you still need documents, should not be a problem. I´m not totally sure, but I believe that if you take no action for 12 months then they drop your case and you lose all fees.

Thanks for your response. I got an earlier response as well that it better to wait since I am waiting on the document anyway.

I talked to the NVC rep as well, and she definitely wants me to wait until I get the Invoice before paying it online. The checkbox being enabled does not mean that I can go ahead and pay. According to her.

So I guess in my case, there are reasons to simply wait.

Take care,

DO NOT pay this bill until you get the email with the generated bill. There are two systems at NVC and if you pay the bill before its generated, the systems will not synch up and you will cause yourself a delay. There are a number of people who have done this recently on VJ, and now have their cases sitting with a supervisor so that the systems can be synched before processing can continue. You can call NVC, speak to an operator, and ask if the bill has been generated. If the operator confirms the bill has been generated you can pay it, before the email arrives, but the key point here is that the NVC system MUST show the bill has been generated. If an operator tells you its been generated, call back and confirm 2-3 times with other operators before paying.

To answer your other question, you don't have to send the DS-230 package immediately when the IV bill is paid. You can pay the bill, and then a week or two weeks later mail the DS-230 package when its ready.

Good Luck!!
