That's funny.

Update: I've been thinking about the trip from Negril to Kingston and weighing the advice of everyone here (which was: have him catch the bus). I know that if I were there, there's no way I'd catch the bus for that long a ride, to go somewhere unfamiliar. And if I were there with him, I'd rent a car to go to Kingston. So I'll rent the car, but we did discuss and figure out some ways to reduce the costs. :: Ducks before people start throwing rocks ::

Nat - I think like you and I probably would make the same decision.

:: Ducking flying rocks with Nat ::

But then the multiple trips and bus experience is a good point. Can’t there be a compromise, do the rent-a-car the first time then if he has to go back do the bus/route taxi? I mean then he would have been there, and would know the place and where to go.

I was thinking that, too. One of the reasons he's taking a car is cause he's bringing someone with him who is familiar with Kingston. But after this trip, he'll know where a few places are. I'll ask him to find the embassy, too, while he's there with the car. The on future trips, it won't be a big deal to catch a bus/taxi.

could eliminate that...tek di bus..drops u off right there..no getting lost

Q..wah gwaan...

Greetings Yardies!!!

Hey all!!...Been around but just haven't posted...don't really have any updates with my life yet (well except a few  )wanted to just put in my two cents about this though...to each its own and please don't think that I think you  for wanting to do this (I do think its crazy though that you do want to do this) but my hubby lived way way way in the country in St. Elizabeth and lived there all his life and never ventured out of his district except to go to the airport to pick me up from either Kingston or Mobay. He does not know anywhere except where he lived. He lived over 3 hours from Kingston so when he had to pick up his police certificate he woke up 4:am in the morning to catch a taxi to take him to catch a bus in Santa Cruz...then he had to take about two more buses after that to reach his destination and take another taxi to go pay for the certificate (you have to pay for the P.C. at a different location) and after all that was done he had to do the same thing coming home...so he did all this traveling in one day and spend only $10 USD for the entire trip...he didn't come home until like 6:pm though  ...money is tight and you have to do what you have to do...he has a sister that lives in St. Catherine which is not too far from where he had to go to get the P.C. so she was able to pick it up from him...She mailed it to him but it took forever and a day...I would not trust them to mail it to you because they might not even mail it to you right away even if its right in front of their face any you gave them the self addressed stamp and plus the mail system takes forever...doesn't make sense if you are going to spend all that money just to get...I would spend the money more on picking it up....

I just thank God that my mom gave me a easy to pronounce name. I haven't had anyone jack up Kimberly. Although, she really wanted to name me Kimber...which may have cause some confusion with people at first.

Kimber is cute! I've never heard of anyone with that name.

Dada - if we could get past the point of -

Me - What are you wearing?

Him - Something nice

Me - What's nice?

Him - Hush ooman, yuh nah easy!

I would be a happy camper!

That's funny.

Also, after my hard drive crashed on my work laptop, I came home and IMMEDIATELY backed up the important stuff on my personal laptop. I usually back things up every few months, but now whenever I have important docs, I'll back it up right away. You never know when these pieces of hardware will suddenly give up their lives.

Nat - of course, it's your decision but what's going to happen if he has to make several trips to Kingston??? Will he expect for you to rent a car each time?

For us, we rode the bus from Mobay to Kingston cuz I wasn't about to roll out that kind of money although I had it. I also did it for the experience....

I was just about to say that I would do it just for the experience.. Roc always teases me I'm forever frowning my face up at tourist things or hanging out at tourist spots. Honey I would have loved to have been at that romp n shop. He's like Dada yuh are a tourist (As she crosses her arms over her chest) No I'm not.... lol

When I am in Kingston, I have taken the bus a few times, and it is an experience, but it doesn't kill you. Taking the bus was an experience for me, because I don't take the bus where I live.

Plus Nat, u want him to know u cannot just role out money for everything on the spot...that plays a big part in when he gets here and what he will be prepared for..even if u can.

My downside to working from home is that I have been eating all day! I made scrambled eggs and ham this am, had cookies, then finished up my brownstew chicken rice and peas and cabbage for lunch - now I am thinking I want popcorn!

Man oh man when you said brownstew chicken I juss laugh... My Roc made this for me on my lass trip and it was so good. I mean so good. So I came home trying ta make it and he called me like what are you doing now? He talked me through the process so I told him I was o.k. and the chicken was stewing. Well he called me back like in a hour and he was like what are you doing now? I told him the chicken was still brewing. He was like still? I said yes he was like uh oh mi tink yuh added ta much wata. Sure enough by the time my chicken got done stewing it was mush.

Note to self

Downside- Mi guess mi should of been paying closer attention while he was cooking and not doing odda tings ta distract me..

Upside- He has to show me again. Dis time I'll keep my hands ta miself....
