For any of the old heads, has anyone heard from IrieCat and Louis? Anyone know how they are doing?

Not me. Was just mentioning them last week.

Hey JG -- what's up -- Iriecat and family all doing well.

********************************************************************************

....when it hurts to look back and you're scared to look ahead LOOK beside you and I'll be there.....

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore... and who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

How was every ones weekend

Too short. I need more 3-day weekends in life.

It was good, though. One of my friends had me over for dinner Saturday and cooked a delicious meal that included watermelon salad: watermelon, feta cheese, mint leaves, and red onion. It was REALLY good and I'd never had anything like it before.

ummm that sounds yummy!

Does it?? I'm so weird I just like the basic food. I tell you anything out tof the ordinary always has me studying it first... LOL

Morning All i'm sorry i forgot to speak.

People really pay for arranged marriages??? $7000 is a lot of money to pay.

hell yea

and what is even worse is that they pay all that money only to find out the person has a criminal record or owes child support or hasn't filed taxes so they can't get the papers anyway

I'm so not focused today. I wrote a list of things I need to get done...and all I'm doing is playing with cell phone.

God please help me....I need a cure for Adult ADD.

All and all, the trip was a good one – lots of quality time, lots of family time – And meeting JAEng was awesome, we had an instant connection and it was like I met my long lost sister!

Awww, same here, that's why I've been stalking you ever since LOL!

Had two very interesting conversations in JA which seemed very relevant to the board.

They have some people employed as 'Tourism Corps', basically for tourist information etc.

Got talking to one of the guys, he was decent looking, very clean cut. He told me he had been with his childhood sweetheart for 15 years, they had two kids together and lived together. He said he had met this American woman who fell in love with him, and even though his 'wife' didn't like the idea, he was going to marry her, come to the States and diverced her as soon as he could and bring his kids and the girlfriend over.

I asked him how on earth his girlfriend was happy with him doing that. He said that she wasn't too happy, but she realized that it was for the kid's best interest and even for their best interest as a family. He went on to say he took his American woman round to meet her and the kids. He said his mother was a christian, and while she wasn't too happy either, she didn't condemn it because he had to do what he had to do. Said his mother talked to his American girlfriend all the time, cooked for her etc.

Another thing he said that he was using to justify the whole scenario is that he said his American girl was older and had on 'weight', so she couldn't possibly expect to get a young, fit guy like him for her own just like that.

Asked him if he mentioned that to her, he laughed.

Just shook my head.

On my last day there, this couple was sitting beside me on the beach. She was English, he was Jamaican. He was being very attentive to his wife, rubbing suntan oil on her, kissing her, giving her little hugs, laughing with her.

So, a guy passed by and made a comment to me, I answered him with an insult in patois, so the husband started CRACKING up and started talking to me.

He said he was a 'beach boy', he went around and slept with the tourists to make a living. Said he did it to survive. So he was telling me, while he slept with ugly women, huge women, nasty women, he was on the look out for one he could 'stomach' living with until he got his stay.

He told me his wife was cool, he liked her because she was naive, believed any story he told her, any excuse he came up with. Said he made up his mind there he was going to marry her because he would be able to 'do his thing'.

They had been married for 6 months, and they were in Jamaica for a month, he boasted of how he had his girlfriend come down and stay in the same hotel and told his wife she was his cousin. Laughed about his wife bringing down clothes for his girlfriend.

I was taken aback, speechless. And he was saying most of this with his wife just out of earshot, but while attending to her needs. She probably thought she was in PARADISE, had the most thoughtful, solicitous husband ever.....

And I guess what amazed me was that he felt the need to sit there telling me all of this like it was something good.

That sickens me, JAE. So not right to play with people like that.

Morning Ja...

I can not believe these men!! I mean I know that it is hard to make ends meet in JA but to play with peoples emotions just to get a dollar is dispicable... Wow!!

Thanks for the heads up JaEnglish. While I don't like to paint everyone with the same brush I just like to say that the behavior you are speaking about it EXTREMELY UNSAVORY and DOWNRIGHT despicable and frankly it does not paint Jamaica in a good light! I am a Christian woman and I do not see how people can call themselves Christian or even a good person and behave in such a manner! The ends do not justify the means! We are to look to God as our provider and our SOURCE for EVERYTHING not other people! I have been up and I have been down and God brought me through all of it sometimes he used other people to help me along my way but I NEVER USED ANYONE....YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW IS ALL I CAN SAY AND GOD BLESS ANYBODY WHO THINKS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OTHERS IS OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You see it!!

While I am the FIRST to jump up when people try to put ALL Jamaican men in the same light, I am under NO illusions as him scheming SOME can be.....Not being a hater, but make sure you LEARN from the mistakes of others....To be honest though, not sure how EITHER woman could protect themselves from men like these...

I feel sorry for those left behind as well. Everyone is being scammed here!

Hey Yardies?

So for citizenship it's 3 years after marriage or 3 years after having greencard?

Man..my husband is trying to work me to death this afternoon. He is washing the deck and wants..my help.

I quickly came down to the computer..but back to sun and cleaning for me.

Have a great day everyone.

It is 3 years after date on green card IF married to American citizen. 5 if not. And, yes, you can apply 90 days before the date on that green card.
