morning ladies, getting ready to say good morning and go to work . Im on my moms computer which i hate but so it go, beggars cant be choosers....LOL

Brief recap on our trip, dont know if i told or not the date is 10/14....who hoo!!!! lord willing. Got to Ochi and settled into the villa which was nice! but the airlines lost our luggage and i arrived on a wed and got it on a thurs night!!!! i was hot to death!!!!

...

I had an airline lose my luggage when I went to Hawaii last year. Since then, I ALWAYS pack one spare outfit (inc underwear) in my carry-on.

With which company? The only one I know of through Digicel is this one - that offers "unlimited" - but is really the 1000 min a month

Well I tried but I got a message all circuits are busy and to try again later. Ah well..

Lately, I've been getting "circuits are busy" messages from Digicel way more freqently when topping up online. Strangeness.

:ot: Does anyone have any connection to or info about the company called ACS? They are located here in the states and in Mobay....Just applied....and waiting....praying .... just wondering because it seems like through this board we have a wealth of info....

:ot2:

Oh sorry....I do have manners..... HI EVERYONE :)

As much as you love the sea, curry chicken, sunshine and a good Jamaican man, you got to think twice about living there. The recession is taking a toll on the Country and crime is way out of control. Take this advice from me.....stay where you are and just file for your husband. Not everything that glitter is gold. You don't know what you are running into. Ask any honest Jamaican and they will tell you.

Wise words, Shawn.

Thank you. I didn't have that link.

Of course. Looking at July 23rd or 24th through the 27th or something like that. Just talking it through right now. Want to see induction ceremony and check out some baseball legends. Write it on your calandar.

I definitely will - PM Island, she can probably add some info - Another airport you might want to look at, especially if you are going to rent a car, is White Plains (HPN). It would be about a 2 hr drive or so to Cooperstown, about 30 minutes or so to NYC - But it's small and easy to get in and out of -

Sus is right on, as always. Albany is about 1 1/2 hrs from me, but on the other side of the state for the stadiums. White Plains is closer to the stadiums, but farther from Cooperstown. Let me know when you firm up - I would love to meet up with you. Bring Dillon in your pocket too.

I'll hollar when I know something concrete.

With all the thoughts about moving to a foreign country shouldn’t you’re so expect the same sacrifices from you that you expect from them? I had this convo with mines and I explained that I have no interest in moving to JA but he feels if things don’t work out with him in the U.S.A I should be able to make sacrifices just like he did??? sometimes i feel bad about the thought of him leaving everything he has known since birth, there is better opportunitys in the U.S.A but everyone is diffrent so it's not certain that they would have a better life here... i think the moving situation is a conflicting position to be in.

DJ and I have had this conversation many times - We have discussed being able to retire early and do a 50/50 split between where we are, etc... We also discussed the reality of it from all angles - If he moves here, we would be able (financially) to fly to JA in a heartbeat if there was a problem or we were needed - We both agreed that living in JA, we probably could not do the same / afford to get back to the US as quickly - We have also discussed looking at other areas in the US, if he is not happy in this area, and coming to a mutual agreement. He has agreed to come here and give it a chance first.

I agree with you that the moving situation is a conflicting one to be in - but I think you have to sit down together as a couple and make your choice, based on all the information - What is right for one couple may not be right for another - but it is an individual choice, all that anyone can do is give input and help the other person gather all information and view points so that they can make their own decision.

Just today Steven commented that if he'd known how [emotionally] hard this process would be, he would have suggested that I move there at least while the paperwork is going through. Deep down, I'm glad we didn't even consider such an option in the beginning. I am a VERY practical person, and it would be highly impractical for me to give up my job (especially temporarily) to live there. Not in today's economy.

Our tentative plan is to live in the states, save a ton of money, setup some passive income streams, then move back to Jamaica when we can afford to build a house & pay it off 100%. So I AM willing to move there to live where he wants to live, but only when it's practical.

This is something that recently came up again in one of our conversations. When I first started traveling to JA, right away I wanted to relocate…I love the sun, beach, turquoise waters, food, culture, etc. I have family there and more cousins who are in the process of moving so I thought it would have been easy for me to do. But as A and I started to become more serious about spending the rest of our lives together, we had to really sit down and think about the life we will have. I still have grade school aged children and realized that for so many reasons there are more opportunities here for us as a family. Now I can’t see moving. However, I feel so bad that ultimately I am asking him to do something that I myself might be unwilling. But so far we have seemed to settle on him coming here first, and then later in life we will make arrangements to spend retirement in JA. With God’s grace we won’t have too many medical problems and we will still be able to enjoy some very good years but hopefully without the worry of finances.

I also have considered relocating to another part of the US if he doesn’t like it here in Philly.

Yep, pretty much our plan exactly.

My2, I would travel out of the Norfolk International Airport, using American Airline.

I dont think Norfolk is international, is it?

I used to live over there

She would take Norfolk to Miami (which is international). It might be cheaper and more convenient than driving to Baltimore to fly AJ.

where is Quana..

You know you can check Quana on FB. She is taking a break.

Ells- Where are you? Come out of the shell please...it's all gonna work out.

Thanks KK, that's the route I would take, to travel 3 to 4 hrs to catch a plane, isn't convient at all. The stop over in Miami makes the most sense.

Thanks kimmy, but my life has been on hold for too long.... It's things like this that gets me down, tomorrow I am going to a big award dinner where I will be receiving an award for a major milestone, But guess what I have to go alone, I can't even ask a old BF to escort me. So this is a bummer on my list tonight, I can't even get excited about what to wear. I know they will want me to give some type of speech, but I am so down, I am not even going to prepare anything.

Joel is fussing with me about this and I don't even care.

Roxcie, I can imagine how you are feeling - I completely understand the frustration of feeling on hold - But have faith and confidence that your turn will soon come - the USCIS rep you spoke to confirmed it - And celebrate your award, don't be down about it - Joel will be with you in Spirit, take pics so that he can see them, and embrace your success and hold your head high - you worked hard for it, you deserve it!

Thanks Sus, for the kind words.

newly..i think it's only a fair question ..why is it ok for him to move and u have no desire to even spend a long period of time in JA...i think it's a little hypocritical....definately need to sit and really discuss this one..it's like the man is good enough for you but where he's from u want no part of..and i guess that's ok for some
