Dear Sistren........back from yard late last night, and eating some smuggled mango right now...yum.

So, bad news for me and my sweetie, we had to cancel his interview due to health problems and believe me, you would never want your worst enemy to end up in a hospital in Jamaica! it's been a nightmare! we are waiting now for a new medical report and don't know what that will say...NO one tells you anything there (unless you can afford to pay!). We couldn't even get his medical record from the hospitalization till we went 5 times, paid twice (2 different clerks) and he still doesn't have them. I've asked per email 3 times now for a new date, but no response as yet and at the Mobay Hope, they won't tell you any results either, so........i came back home alone, and it breaks my heart to not be there continuing to care for him, altho he is feeling fine and seems strong (certainly in the bed!).

i can only hope now that his health is improving and they will give him his clearance and a new date comes soon (altho i can't return for it).........and i ask all of you to pray that my journey ends up happy......

Will spend more time catching up on everyone lata.........need some sleep, unpack, nuff eyewata :crying: bless, culture1

Sorry to hear Culture I really hope all will be well...

So u guys have no idea what's wrong with him?

well the school that we have selected altho in the public system is an academy.. she had to be tested and interviewed to before being selected and her grades had to be in the 80th percentile..i actually attended this school and i know the education is stellar..

her dad wanted her to attend a regular public school becuz he said she would be top of her class and more opt to get scholarships..

i told him, this is not the time to let her coast.. in elementary she was taught at a higher level and it should continue so she will not get lazy and lose motivation.. it will help her to be challenged and to not be the "smartest" kid in class.. she will work harder (i pray)

besides high school is where u worry about scholarships, by that time i think her work ethic will be formed and then she can attend a regular public school.

ur right kimmy.. if the school district is a good one, its definatly gonna be a good transition. kindergarten i think is the hardest and ur babygirl just finished right?? if kids in the regular public school are learning to read and write then she will not feel bored when she starts w/ them. i hate when the teacher is struggling with kids that haven't learned these things and the more advanced kids are left to sit and do nothing, they lose interest.. the schools should find some way to cater to both ends of the spectrum but i know its hard...

OK..thats great..It just makes me so upset that some schoold can have such horrible schools...and why not let her work hard now and like u said work hard for her scholarships in HS

exactly Q..this is what i did my speech on and the more i research the more I noticed this HUGE problem..children should learn..even if it's not academics but socialization u know..i do not believe a 5 or 6 yr old should be kicking and bawling when they start Kindergarten...preschool is just a good buffer for that..and to this day I do not regret the sacrifice!

my daugh has allergies real bad too.. she was miserable last night and this morning.. claritin usually does real well for her.. if not, i guess its another trip to the pediatrician for a singulair RX..

Quanna how old is your daughter, does the claritin cause drowsiness? My daughter has allegies and this morning it was bad but I couldn't give her the Rx because it causes drowsiness and she had to go to school. I felt so bad, she was sneezing bad and her eyes were swelling but I couldn't give her anything. :(

my 11 yr old is the one w/ the allergies, i also have a 7 yr old.. claritin doesn't cause drowsiness, BUT i find it has to be like 2 days of taking it to get in the system and see a difference.. the singular we were told to take it at night cuz i think it does make u drowsy.. she had an inhaler she could use in the day.. i forget the name of it..

i know how u feel.. sending them to skool like that.. my daugh looked like a zombie, she brought a pillow so she could lay her head down.. luckily its the last days of skool and they arent' really doing anything..

My 8yo has the inhaler too but Ped. says use it only when necessary because she doesn’t have asthma only bad allergies for which the inhaler helps. So, I try to use it least as possible. I think I’ll try her with the Claritin and alternate with the script at night until the Claritin kicks in. Hopefully that will get her some relief during the day. I’m going to check with her Ped. to make sure it’s ok to use both.

it is sad..it got so bad here that the schools would have investigators to find out if kids were going to the correct schools, cuz parents would lie about addresses so their kids would be allowed to go to better districts w/ better schools.. i don't blame them.. the administration oughta do something about it.. i mean, how hard is it to adopt some of the practices u SEE working at ur sister suburbs down the street??

J2!!!

i was thinking the SAME, hear i am all worried about the boys' adjustment to mr philly and sounds like he has found the way to their heart LOL!!!!

its just the opposite for me.. i am the one that has to stop trying to do everything for my girls.. roger told me yesterday.. "let the girls help u wash clothes baby, don't work so hard" i know he is right, i am trying to do better..

philly, what do the kids dad think about everything?? no baby daddy drama???

i have a friend married a Nigerian on K1 couple of mnths ago.. her baby daddy called the house and cussed her husband for disciplining the 6 yr old son.. we all knew it was bound to happen cuz he is soooo stupid, but she put him in his place!!

Quanna no BD Drama cause that Negro don't care! He is such a loser, I just collect my check and keep it moving! I keep it real with my boys so they know everything and they realize that if he cared he would make an effort so I have no issues there at all.

The boys are adjusting to Damian well I thank the creator for that every day! Now they haven't called him Dad or anything but they do tell people that he is their Step Dad so that's a step in the right direction LOL

I wish we had good public/charter schools in my area. My kids are in private school now but once they are graduated they will be attending public school. I plan to move to another county just to keep them on the same academic path throughout Middle school. I agree by High school the foundation should be set.

exactly..WHAT THE HECK IS THE BUDGET FOR THESE LITTLE SMALL TOWNS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN THOSE OF THE BIG CITY SCHOOLS...ridiculous to me...the teachers are being paid more..why can't we break down class sizes...i tell u about these dyam Politicians...but Obama is here to give them something...he is ready to give money to Prek schools..

exactly..this is crazy that we now have to move to different places to keep out kids on the right educational path
