So I have a ponderance to bring up here.....for those of you who have recently (or even not so recently) had your SO make it here and are going through the adjustment, did you have to do any mental preparation for a 'new' life?? ...

Excellent question, Ells!

I think part of the challenge, at least before the EAD, will be in NOT controlling resources too much... At least, that will be my thing, partly cause I'm frugal (in many ways). If I have visitors over who use too many paper towels, I get irked.

I, also, am curious to hear others' tales of mental preparation.

I'm the same way....I have a friend who comes over and instead of actually USING the box of kleenex I have out, she'll unwind gobs of my toilet paper to blow her nose. For some reason it totally irritates me! That's why I have the dang kleenex...so you don't have to use my TP for other stuff!!:angry::whistle:

i know this is just the first step but it has been so tedious getting here

so i have to celebrate that we sent off our I130 package today

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!! lol

i know its gonna be a master lesson in patience but i'm just happy that at least the process has started!

i'm gonna be leaning on you ppl now more than evah!! ;)

anyway enjoy your weekend and happy mothers day to all when it comes! :luv:

Congrats Bunz on getting started!

hey yardies just a quick hello to say, MY BABY IS HOME.:dance::dance:

CONGRATS LOVESPONGE! Enjoy his homecoming! Thanks for checking in but we don't expect to see you any time soon after this!:dance:

How do I find out for sure that the Embassy has my case from the NVC? I never stopped to think that maybe it hasn't gotten there before I mailed off the DS-230...oh #######!!!! :crying::huh::ph34r::cry::oops:

Jaws, I *think* it's the 603 # but I'll give you the link that has both the 202# and that one. But to get the case number and status, I do believe it was the 603 one. It hasn't been that long ago and already I've forgotten. But if the NVC has your case #, then they can tell you when it was sent off to the embassy and you can guesstimate from there. If they've sent it off more than a week ago, you can be pretty certain that the embassy has received it.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/about/how/how_1246.html

National Visa Center (Immigrant visa inquiries): 603-334-0700

They'll ask you questions to confirm like his name and DOB & yours and then give you your case # if it has arrived at the NVC.

If that isn't the right number, try the 202 #.

Thanks Ells. I have the KNG# and I know that they sent the petition to Kingston on the 5th. I thought I read some where that there is a way to confirm that Kingston got the case without actually calling Kingston. If I remember correctly, you used the 202# to confirm that they received your DS-230 right?

i know this is just the first step but it has been so tedious getting here

so i have to celebrate that we sent off our I130 package today

congrats and welcome aboard this crazy ride.

I called the 603# and they were able to tell me that the embassy hadn't physically received the paperwork, but that they had gotten it electronically. I asked if I needed to wait for the actual paperwork to reach them, before requesting a drop off date and she said no that they had all of my information in their system so they would be able to make an appt. I would assume the information is sent electronically the day they mail out the packet.

Another thing I wanted to say is that for the no impediment form you need to bring your birth certificate. Maybe you all know this already, but I hadn't seen that anywhere. Although, if you don't bring your birth certificate they can look up the information for $100JA.

I think I read some where on VJ that the No impediment is not required if the Jamaican beneficiary is divorced...but I can't find it now. I feel it is a huge waste of $$ especially considering it only covers the parish they live in. So...a Jamaican could get married in say Negril but they live in Ochi and the no impediment would show no records for the Ochi/St. Ann area even though there is a marriage filed in Negril correct? Or do I have this stupid form all wrong?

hey yardies just a quick hello to say, MY BABY IS HOME.:dance::dance:

Yeaaaahhhiiiieee!!! Welcome to the States Mr. LoveSponge!!

Ok I have a question, hubby is going to do the passport for his daughter, and according to her mom she wont let her come this year. Does anyone know if the K2 visa is the same as the K1, like if we went to the embassy and got it, will she have 6 months to travel on it?

since we already file for AOS would it be possible to wait until we file for ROC to do her AOS so we wouldnt have to do an ROC for her too?
