How do I find out for sure that the Embassy has my case from the NVC? I never stopped to think that maybe it hasn't gotten there before I mailed off the DS-230...oh #######!!!! :crying::huh::ph34r::cry::oops:

Jaws, I *think* it's the 603 # but I'll give you the link that has both the 202# and that one. But to get the case number and status, I do believe it was the 603 one. It hasn't been that long ago and already I've forgotten. But if the NVC has your case #, then they can tell you when it was sent off to the embassy and you can guesstimate from there. If they've sent it off more than a week ago, you can be pretty certain that the embassy has received it.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/about/how/how_1246.html

National Visa Center (Immigrant visa inquiries): 603-334-0700

They'll ask you questions to confirm like his name and DOB & yours and then give you your case # if it has arrived at the NVC.

If that isn't the right number, try the 202 #.

So I have a ponderance to bring up here.....for those of you who have recently (or even not so recently) had your SO make it here and are going through the adjustment, did you have to do any mental preparation for a 'new' life?? The last couple nights going to bed, I've been thinking about how these next 2 1/2 weeks might be the last time I ever sleep alone. It's nice waking up next to someone but sometimes it's also very nice having a bed all to yourself! And that's just one part, my time is no longer going to be my own (except when we each take our own 'me' time on occasion) and neither are my resources. I'm an only child and have never had to share before! With him, I really want to share and I have but I still feel there is going to be some adjustment and some realigning of my values because I no longer get to be totally selfish. I'm trying to mentally prepare for all these changes coming and don't quite know where I stand with it all. I feel pretty calm but I'm a little anxious thinking this may just be my 'calm before the storm'. How did some of you prepare for the big change in lifestyle and adjust to it all?

Good Morning All,

Congrats to all the approvals I may have missed and Visa in hand, and SO's coming home!

I took my hubby to the airport this morning, he is going to JA for 12 days to see his other boo! She will be 1 next week! I am sorry I couldn't go, but we have to be rational.

Island, Congrats! its about time!!! so happy for you!

Philly sorry to hear about your cat!!!

Thanks Portland.

Awww...that's sweet! Hard to believe she will be 1. I remember when you posted photos and she was just a couple months old. Sounds like AP came just in time. How's the job going?

OMG Sus!! She and he are so cute. Looks like they are going to have a great relationship.

Awww she is soo cute. Look at the size of those legs. She is going to be a big 'un and eat everything in sight. What is her name?

Excellent question, Ells!

I think part of the challenge, at least before the EAD, will be in NOT controlling resources too much... At least, that will be my thing, partly cause I'm frugal (in many ways). If I have visitors over who use too many paper towels, I get irked.

I, also, am curious to hear others' tales of mental preparation.

If that isn't the right number, try the 202 #.

I called the 603# and they were able to tell me that the embassy hadn't physically received the paperwork, but that they had gotten it electronically. I asked if I needed to wait for the actual paperwork to reach them, before requesting a drop off date and she said no that they had all of my information in their system so they would be able to make an appt. I would assume the information is sent electronically the day they mail out the packet.

Another thing I wanted to say is that for the no impediment form you need to bring your birth certificate. Maybe you all know this already, but I hadn't seen that anywhere. Although, if you don't bring your birth certificate they can look up the information for $100JA.
