My BF Just had this done. I tell you to get all four teeth pulled out at once you all are a solider. I still have all of mine in and I'm dreading the day the doc says dey have ta come out. I guess your using that dentist you told us about the one that has the cookies and what not??

 Wow, DaDa, you have a good memory! Nah, that doctor doesn't do oral surgery, so I'm going to someone she recommended.

It's costing a fortune. My 15 minute consultation with the surgeon cost $195 out of my own pocket! Let's not even talk about how much this surgery is going to cost, even with insurance. I told my friend who recently finished dental school that she's soon to be PAID. Kinda makes me think I'm in the wrong field! :help:

Check with your health insurance company, not just dental. Mine were impacted so my health insurance covered what my dental insurance wouldn't. Of course, this was 8 years ago and the whole insurance biz has changed since then.

Morning Yardies!

Congrats Quana for your girls' success and traveling! I know you're a proud Mama and you have every right to be!

HEART! :D(L)

get it ells GET IT!!!!

GOT IT! :yes::lol:

  That was SO HILARIOUS, Ells. Congratulations on the heart. I guess that means you luv VJ!

Yeah, AND I chat too much!!

and take a chance on that love. And it doesn't help to have someone come along and say "I told you so!" That's just plain petty and does nothing to open up someone's eyes to the 'dangers' of involving one's self with a Jamaican.

Yup, a Jamaican can will do anything to get here !

 ...mi ah guh sit back han si where dis ah guh...before mi start!...

my response shoulde have been--- Jamaican that will do anything to get here !

That's why I said I was just gonna sit back...but I'm REAL curious as the exactly WHAT 'dangers' their are in dating...not to mention (cluch my pearls) marrying a Jamaican man!

I'm sorry as a Jamaican I found this rather insulting. Do I think what Dwayne did to Wakey was JACKED THE PHOCK-UP? HELL YEAH!!! But do I think that can happen in ANY culture and with ANY man!! My first marriage was to an American and he was a pissashyt MF'er, but I don't think there are any 'dangers' in dating an American man!!!

Gill

Gill, let me apologize for coming off the wrong way. I wrote that with the '...' around the 'dangers' because my intention was to come off very tongue-in-cheek. I for one don't feel this way but I was trying to make a point about Shawn's constant posts that can be summarized basically this way; most of us will fail with our relationships and when we do, s/he'll be able to once again say "I told you so", we're all too fat and nyam too much so that's why we have to go to JA to find a man and finally, the only reason they're with us is for greencards. It's all you read from him/her....nothing positive or good, just how bad we're all gonna end up having it! Everyone seems to think this is some REAL advice (vs. the fluff the rest of us contribute) whereas I think most of us our aware of the possibilities without someone slapping you in the face with it at every opportunity.

Morning everyone!

i'm just reading today. It's hard today.

((((Wakey)))) Let it out my friend! (L)(F)

Monday, I'm getting all 4 wisdom teeth removed & the booklet said to eat soft foods afterwards. If anyone else had this done, what did you eat that wasn't super full of sugar? I'm thinking to get some protein shakes.

I ate soup and soft stuff like mashed taters or mac n cheese. I was a total wuss....I had them KNOCK me out for the procedure cause I too had all 4 taken at once. It was surprisingly not that bad afterward though. I took like one heavy dose of ibuprofen and never needed any other pain killer after. The weird thing was that during the procedure, even though I was out cold, I could still hear the yanking and feel pressure on my body as the dentist was trying to get leverage to pull those things out! Ooops....not trying to scare you....I didn't feel any pain. They'll tell you this I'm sure but just don't drink out of a straw for several days either so everything can heal back there.

That's great to hear Ladies!!! What's funny is I only told a select few of my family members that I had filed for my Ken, b/c I just didn't want to hear all the negativity...AND MY FAMILY ARE JAMAICANS, so don't feel as if you are alone or just Americans are biased towards Yardies. My Father & older family members were convinced that Ken had 5 kids in the country and was just after a GC!!

However, now that Ken has been here for over a year...my Dad LOVES himself some Ken!! Honestly, somedays I think he likes Ken more than me! "Where mi Son deh?" "Is wat yuh duh wid Ken?" "When Ken coming? I need em fi help mi wid....!" My whole family now embraces Ken...but it was difficult when he first arrived. But I just put my blinders on and told everyone to give him a chance...cause neither he, nor me were going anywhere!

However, I will say that I feel blessed because as much as I talked to Ken everyday (50 times a day) when we were dating, asked my 20 million questions 50 times each to him and travelled back and forth to Yard...you never REALLY know someone until you have to deal and live with them day in and day out!

But love regardless or race, greed, religion or nationality is ALWAYS a gamble...and if someone tells you otherwise they are lying!!

Bless-ed,

Gill

This is exactly how I feel and I keep jokingly saying to people that I had to go abroad to find love cause I've had enough unsuccessful relationships right here at home with American men!

:help:

That's what I'm saying! It is truly unbelievable what dental work costs! One tooth has cost me into the thousands since the first dentist screwed every procedure up and it took another dentist to fix it all so I didn't have to lose the tooth.

 i agree with you Dada i dont even mention anything really to my friends because of the same thing everyone is like really a jamaican WHY??? he want a greencard ect... and yes it is ignorant but i cant lie i use to be the same way, i hated dancehall music and never even thought twice about getting with a Jamaican let alone marrying one  but it is funny how things change and how everything is a growing process now im the first one busting a wine on the dance floor lol and it really have nothing to do with me falling inlove with a jamaican man  i think it was the visit to the country it was refreshing to see a place where black ppl are the majority and the vibez was crazy.

everybody know i love me some Gil and ken LOL..

that family thing is an adjustment in itself.. alot of marriages have both members' families in the same area.. u try to cleave to ur spouses' family.. but the reality is u don't have to really cuz u have ur own right around the corner.. our yard men.. don't have that OTHER support system, all they have is us arn our family, our friends (unless they have people here too of course) so its great that the family can come thru for that couple and make things just a little bit easier..

my fam is not much bothered by the Jamaican thing.. my mom loves that he makes me smile, but I know my fam can be a lil "meet the parents" sometimes, remember the circle of trust??? LOL..

they are nice but not very welcoming, kind of cliquish at times so i will probably talk w/ them when the time comes...

Well Quana you met my crazy family so you know that mi bro will welcome him shoot his wife and BF are Jamaican and my dad doesn’t care as long you drink so he's a show in. In Feb when my brother and dad met Roc they were so welcoming it was lovely and Roc is a little standoffish so to see them chatting was so nice but I had to give Roc the eye because he was telling more details than I wished him to mention you know like how many times I have been down there. Quiet boy mi family thought I was at a conf for work or in Dallas...

Its my mom I'm worried about. She can be so closed minded at times I'm sure that is the one that is going to give me grief. She already doesn’t understand it so wait until she hears how serious it is she is really going to hit the roof. For the life of me I still don’t understand why I'm a grown rass woman still scared to tell her mom the truth....LOL

lol.. just seeing that u tried to call me out dada.. lol

HI (WAVING WILDLY!!!!!)

beyonce will be here in July.. thinking bout getting tickets for me and the girls..

mek mi go look fa di ticket price.. mi nuh go broke fa BEYONCE!!!

Yeah girl you know I had to pick with you...

Man I would love to take Nells to Beyonce but I bet her tickets are high az heck.. Let me know it would be so neat to bring her down there for a girls day...

Honestly Nat, it was a lot better than I expected! See if you can get knocked out too....it'll make it that much easier even though it costs more. There was very little discomfort afterward and I REALLY didn't feel anything during the procedure...just had a little awareness that's all. It'll be fine! And you won't have to worry about your teeth crowding. I wish I'd had it done a little sooner because my front teeth did crowd a little and aren't as straight now as they were when I was younger.
