and take a chance on that love. And it doesn't help to have someone come along and say "I told you so!" That's just plain petty and does nothing to open up someone's eyes to the 'dangers' of involving one's self with a Jamaican.

Yup, a Jamaican can will do anything to get here !

 ...mi ah guh sit back han si where dis ah guh...before mi start!...

my response shoulde have been--- Jamaican that will do anything to get here !

shaun i forgot to tell u..ur ring is beautiful !

That's why I said I was just gonna sit back...but I'm REAL curious as the exactly WHAT 'dangers' their are in dating...not to mention (cluch my pearls) marrying a Jamaican man!

I'm sorry as a Jamaican I found this rather insulting. Do I think what Dwayne did to Wakey was JACKED THE PHOCK-UP? HELL YEAH!!! But do I think that can happen in ANY culture and with ANY man!! My first marriage was to an American and he was a pissashyt MF'er, but I don't think there are any 'dangers' in dating an American man!!!

Gill

I agree Gill.... It happens in every single culture out there. Not just that either. There are women out here that treat men like sh!t to now.

Yeah but as Americans we are quick to look at the faults in other cultures before we knock our own. Til this day when I mention I'm messing with a Jamaican I already know what’s going to come out their mouths. I'm about to hear all the negative reasons on why I shouldn’t date one. There possessive, abusive, mean spirited blah blah blah but yet when you turn on the evening news this man has beat, killed or raped em wife or girlfriend. How many cases are in the courts for controlling possessive men its like the list goes on but yet you’re quick to knock someone else. I just look at them and laugh and think yeah I was once as ignorant as you at one time. I’m so glad I'm over that...

Good Morning All...

Well I don’t know whose responsible for stealing that great weather we had over the weekend but whoever took it can you please bring it back. We went from high 80's and sun to low 60's and rain. Man do I miss the sunshine... :crying:

We're having the opposite situation in Houston. Yesterday a lot of schools & businesses were closed due to flooding from the torrential rainfall the night before. Today, it's cloudy, but beautiful.

Monday, I'm getting all 4 wisdom teeth removed & the booklet said to eat soft foods afterwards. If anyone else had this done, what did you eat that wasn't super full of sugar? I'm thinking to get some protein shakes.

I actually ate normal foods. Had them pulled in the am and was eating normal by mid afternoon. Depends on if they have to dig around and stuff, how many issues you have after.

Oatmeal is my preferred soft food.

Food warnings here this afternoon too, Nat. Sucks.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

One good thing I can say about where I work is that I don't get that. I think that typically comes from Americans, possibly ones who haven't experienced very many cultures.

My coworkers, who are from Pakistan, Egypt, China, Ecuador, Canada, Brazil, India, and of course the USA, are WAAAAY less judgemental about dating people from other cultures. They don't automatically assume that people who marry Americans are just after a green card.

Wow you really work in a melting pot Nat... That's good. The one thing I dislike about where I live is your either black or white. We don’t have too much diversity here but its slowly starting to pick up a bit. That is another reason why I think my situation sticks out so much more.

Nat, this is the same for me, I welcome working with a diverse group of people.

P.S. We were touched today, so soon maybe.

Hey Newly (waving) don't know if you read my story but mi too. That is why I said those who laugh last laugh hardest. I will say I have always had a thing for reggae music but that was as far as it went until I set foot on that island. I didn’t even want to be bothered with the men but once I relaxed and just enjoyed it I really am fond the culture. Look at me trying to cook the dishes, learn the language and really get acquainted with the people. I to figure its growing pains now that I know about it I can accept it and not judge it.
