IR-1, G-325a Form

Hello all,

As mentioned, I have just returned last week from the Phillipines and have married my sweety while there.

I am going to file the I-130/CR-1 for her because it appears that the K3 is no longer any quicker and also has risk involved with filing both. I want to get her her as soon as possible without risking any problems or delays, so i guess I will go thew I-130 route only; please let me know if I should be doing something different.

Also, I have downloaded the I-130 and G-325a. The G-325a form has 5 pahes in it, 4 of the pages are identical to page 1 and the last page is instructions. The instructions in the guide on VJ says for the petioner and the beneficiary to fill out all 4 pages each. The 4 pages are the same, are they supposed to be the same; is it just 4 original copies the want of the g-325a form from each of us or are the 4 pages supposed to be different and i have a bad file download?

I tried redownloading it from VJ and directly from the immigration Gov site but they all have pages 1-4 as being identical.

Please help?

Also the instructions in the I-130 say to attach a copy of your marriage certificate, do they want the mariage cert that is certified from the NSO or just the copy given by the city hall that has not yet been certified by the NSO.. I did not yet recieve the certified copy from the NSO , we are still waiting for it. I do have the copy not cert. by the NSO from the city hall were we married.

I dont wamt to send it in and have it kicked back/delayed because they want the NSO certified marriage cert.. It does not stipulate what one they want in the instructions.

Thanks much!

The G-325a forms are supposed to be identical, don't worry about that. If you look on the bottom of each page, it'll say like INDENT, REC.BR, and C, etc, it just means that each form goes to a different place/person. As well, if you run out of room, be sure to attach a piece of paper with the information.

You, the Petitioner needs to fill out all 4 pages of the G-325a and so does your wife. As well, be sure to include a passport style photo of yourselves, at the end of your designated G-325a forms.

If you are filling them out by hand, then yes, there are 4 identical pates that needs to be filled out. If you are using something like Acrobat Reader to fill out the forms, then whatever you enter on Page 1 will automatically appear on other 3 pages (so it's like filling out the form only once) but you've still have to sign and date all 4 pages.

Also the instructions in the I-130 say to attach a copy of your marriage certificate, do they want the mariage cert that is certified from the NSO or just the copy given by the city hall that has not yet been certified by the NSO.. I only sent a copy of marriage certificate and it was fine. One thing to note is, whatever paperwork you send to USCIS, they will not return it to you or get forwarded to NVC/Embassy. USCIS suggests to send copy only. So I think you should be fine sending a copy. But it may depend from country to country, so see what other VJ members have to say...

Here is the list of things I sent to USCIS:

0) Cover Letter

1) Completed and signed form I-130

2) Check for I-130 Filing Fee

3) Copy of my (Petitioner's) Naturalization Certificate to prove the U.S citizenship

4) Copy of my (Petitioner's) U.S Passport to prove the U.S citizenship

5) Completed and signed form G-325A by the petitioner and photograph of the petitioner

6) Completed and signed form G-325A by the beneficiary and photograph of the beneficiary

7) Copy of our Marriage Certificate

8) Copy of beneficiary’s Passport

9) Copies of wedding photographs

congrats on your wedding. Did the same as you in PI march 13 2009. We just got our marriage certificate the other day finally took 3 weeks. You will need more than 1 certified copy. We ordered 4 of them. I think it was 500 php each or $10 USD. Also filing for the CR-1 as you state. Your wife needs to fill out 4 copies of the G325A and you also need to fill 4 copies out. That is biographical info on each of you. To speed things up send her extras to sign. What I have done is sent her 12 of them(3 sets) to just sign and told her I will fill it out for her and she can send them back with the marriage certificate just signed. She also will need to forward to you a 2X2 inch white background passport photo also at the same time. So basically you have approx 3 weeks to learn what you need to do paperwork wise and this is THE place to find out.

My wife is also going ahead and redoing her passport with her new name. NBI clearance paper and getting 2 certified birth certificates. Might have left something out she also needs to have in the future at this time but want all the ducks in a row to get papers sent out asap.

Good luck on your journey
