hey everybody

I'm looking for some advice about how to go about filing my I-864.

I am currently a student. I work when I can for a family as a nanny, but they pay me directly and I deposit the checks directly into my checking account. The only way I can prove that as part of my income is showing that I have made depsotis into my bank account for the past year or so (i think). But I also have assets that are worth 5x the poverty line (with an income of $0). What are my options? Do I try to prove that I have some kind of income? And how is the best way to do this? Is it enough to show that I have assets that are worth 5x the poverty line? And also.... for stocks and bonds, how do I prove ownership, location and value of each asset together with evidence of liens, mortgages and liabilities for each asset?? These are just general questions.... I'm looking for any advice/information that I can get!!!!

thanks!!

i think the only thing that they want to know is that you have it. Documents should just show to them that you have it. I don`t know much about the rules regarding assets but hopefully somebody can help.

Can you get a letter from your employer (the family)? Copies of the cancelled cheques?

You should check out the new I-864 forms. The requirements for assets have changed. The links were posted in this forum this morning and also in the Timesavers thread, which is pinned at the top of the NVC forum.

Good luck!

hollyw,

Income tax returns are handy for showing income, especially since they include various types of income not just income from employment.

Brokerage account statements are good for documenting stocks and bonds. (What documents do you use to know what your investments are and how they're doing?)

hollyw,

That may be sufficient documentation. It will be up to the consular officer who reviews the visa application when he sees the statements.
