hello! i´m getting ready to send of my K1 Fiance Visa and am wondering if it matters that someone other than myself wrote the check for the $455.00 filing fee. I have a joint account with my mother, though this is not obvious on the check, and she was the one that wrote the check. should i get a print out from the bank, saying it´s a joint account or some kind of document with my name on it? or will it be okay without any clarification? thank youu!

My mom wrote my check too because I was living in London at the time of filing. The check that she wrote had both my name and her name on the top (as we had a joint account as well). However, I don't think it will matter if your name is not on the check. They don't care who gives them the money, only that someone is giving them the money!!! At the bottom have her write something like "Check for Petition of Jane Smith and John Silva" or whatever.

At this point, they don't look at any money type matters (like if you can support your SO), that's at the embassy stage, so no worries about that either!

Just have her write your name on the check in the memo space, as in "for Bill Smith, Petitioner". You are mailing a petition not a visa.
