I have 150 set aside for my favours. Everyone is getting Wilbur Buds. It's a local chocolate factory in Lancaster County. I'm not sure if I'm going to put them in boxes, or in a mesh bag.

I think I've also decided on my centerpieces today. After talking with my co-worker, I think it's in my best interest to have the florist do them. So I decided to do a Gerbera topiary. With either mini gerbers on the bottom or just regular daisies.

I was looking around trying to think of what I wanted my party favours to be, and I remembered something really cool from a while ago.

Personalized M&M's!

http://www.mymms.com/

I looked into the costs. Just say I'm having 35 people at my wedding, and I want to give them 2 oz of the M&Ms. I would need 70 oz of them.

I chose to get the dark pink and white with messages on them. One with the wedding date and the other with our names.

5 7oz bags of the personalized ones cost 59.95. 5 7oz bags of just dark brown ones are 34.95

That would give me 70 oz of M&Ms at 94.90. That's without the bags/cases to put them in and with no ribbon.

On the other hand, if I were to buy their pre-wrapped gift ones, they're 139.65 for 35 of them @ 1.75 oz each.

I can easily count out, weigh and package them myself, since I would guess the bags/ribbon would be about 20 bucks if I could find nice looking inexpensive ones. That way I could also get the ribbon colour I wanted.

(I can be a real cost freak when it comes to saving money just by making stuff myself.)

And it's not something that would just sit around forever either.

They taste awesome and you can use the bag for something else.

Not sure if about 130 dollars or so is too much to spend on just the favours, but it doesn't seem so bad to me.

I'd even tag the favours with the people's names for the fun of it.

If you were to spend $130 for 35 favours, you're looking at about $3.75/favour. That seems a but high to me for m&ms, but they are personalized, so you pay for that. You should check out the ideas on theknot.com - it will give you an idea of pricing too.

Hm. I'll check out that site, thanks.

I need ideas since I'm totally in the dark with my mom not willing to help me right now.

I just don't want to give people useless things.

I hate when I get useless things, then you feel like you have to have it out when that person comes over.

I did get an oil thing last year, that I use all the time.

I also don't want to give something personalized.

I would just feel like it would not get used.

That's why I was thinking personalized chocolate. It's edible, haha.

I did see some nice heart shaped glass coasters. And they're cheaper per person than the M&Ms.

They were pretty.

My fiance's done the same thing, buying expensive things without really letting me say anything.

A 3000 dollar used motorcycle when he still has a 15 thousand dollar debt.

I was angry at him for a long time about it, still kind of ticked off... but oh well.

Men are goofballs, like you said

My fiance did that exact SAME thing!!! I was livid! He has debt from university & he goes & buys a bike!

After that we had the talk about finances. We will discuss any major purchases. It's working so far.

Congrats Peachey!

We had 3 different favors. We got paper fans for the guests to use at the ceremony, since it was outdoors in the middle of the day in August. Then we had paper clip place card holders. And lastly we had little personalized favor boxes filled with M&M's. We decided not to get them personalized because of the cost, then the shipping, and the fact it took them a couple days to make them and send them out to you. We used the M&M's from Michaels that come in custom wedding colors... they matched pretty good. That was a product of everyone not agreeing. I wanted the candy boxes, the husband wanted the clips, and then my MIL piped in at the last minute and said we needed to get fans.

We're doing mnm's however, I went to our friends wedding where they had some on the tables for people to eat, and the custom writing on it, is not worth it at all. They are faded, hard to read ect...

What we are doing, is buying the pink breast cancer mix they sell every october in stores and then I'm going to store them until next June. I talked to the person at mnm's and they said they save for a long time as long as they are put away properly. I bought little favor boxes for mine and to fill one, I need half a bag of normal mnm's. So I'll need approx 50 bags (I'll prob get 60 just to be safe). I'm going to clean out the cash area at walmart when they come in :)

Also one more thing, shipping to Canada from mnm's directly is INSANE. It's really really high. If you want to do a couple mixed colors, look online at a couple of the candy places. They ship for a lot less (without the customizing it) or like Huggles said, michael's sell them now!

Oh I also just got an email from the Pastor and he said he'd marry us!

I think I changed my mind about the M&Ms

I found these nice clear glass coasters on the "The Knot" website that would be way cheaper.

Not to mention, they're not personalized, not tacky and you could probably use them daily.

I found a really nice site that does tiaras, since I would like to wear one.

I've also decided against a veil, since the back of my dress is corset style and I think a veil would just cover it up and destroy the charm of the dress... unless I can find something that's shoulder length, but I bet that'd look silly.

Haha, I saw that yesterday.

After a bunch of talking to my fiance, I decided that it does seem silly to do the signing and the ceremony separately.

I think was just being rebellious to my mom because she was trying to control everything.

I ended up talking to her today about it, and because the wedding will be earlier than we thought it would, that I want to order my dress.

She still hasn't said yes.

She said that I really should see the dress itself and not just the pictures, but I really do trust the pictures' as to how it is.

She's scared of putting out 500 dollars for it in case I dont get my visa... even though one day I am bound to use it, some way or another.

She wants to take me shopping first and see what's in the area... but knowing me I'm going to be stubborn about it and get that dress I really really want. I mean, I based my wedding colours off of it! She even said to me that 499 is cheap for a wedding dress, considering hers cost more than that about 23 years ago.

Not to mention there's a 100 dollar off coupon for it this month if you buy it in the US.

I just really want my dress :(

No wise cracks about the weight thing this time around though :P

Hah, I'd hate to double post but apparently my mom and dad talked about it and they're offering to take me to the nearest Alfred Angelo store in Rochester.

They're taking me on a Sunday this month.

Here's hoping the border doesn't try and scan my passport and see my border denial :P

(I highly doubt it anyway, they're not really ####### about Canadians going shopping for a day)

Well, that made me a bit happier :D
